Catholics also built the Bibles' table of contents. Until Luther said, "lets loose a few, they aren't convenient, and I'm only going to believe what scripture says, except for that part about scripture not defining what is scripture". Real solid logic with that guy.

Everytime I go to Catholic mass, which is only for weddings, I get the weirdest vibe when the priest says something and everyone mumbles a memorized phrase. It feels cult-ish. I just smile to myself . But hey if that's your thing then go for it.

Oh look....I'm better than every one!!!

Jesus said the only way to salvation was through acceptance and faith in Him.

But who knows for sure how this process works.

If someone is raised on a remote island having never heard of God, do you think they go to Hell? How do we know they can't accept Jesus once they actually meet Him in the afterlife?

I went to a Pentecostal funeral this weekend and experienced someone doing it and it was quite interesting to say the least.

Hey, you dumb arse motherfricker, God is omnipotent and is capable of understanding human language.

If God spoke to the world right now, the overwhelming majority of humans couldn't understand him and most would die from the shock of his voice.

What makes you think God speaks in the first place, like you or I? God is not flesh and blood so stop with the personification. We are only made in his image in the sense that we have a spirit.

You need to quit acting like a frick stick with all that "all babies speak in tongues" bullshite. Do really believe that shite?

Non-denominational" is such a crock.

Isn't going to something labeled as such in fact a denomination? I never got that. Just more hypocrisy from Christians.

What happens if they meet jesus in the afterlife and find him to be annoying so they slap the shite out of him? Death penalty? I'd like to think if you can knock his crown off, you get to keep it.

Sounds like he's saying God makes that decision. Crazy, huh?

He does, so who is to say what is right and wrong? Even if you don't believe, it would be up to him. Not a bunch of people that feel they need church to not feel empty in life.

For all you know, bin laden gets into heaven, a long with Catholic priests that rape boys.

Every religion has its own kink. From speaking in tongue, to handling snakes, to Mormon uderwear, to not eating pork, to thinking Jews will go to Hell.

This is not what God intended I don't think. But I ain't got time to. So I don't worry about it. Joel Osteen is living large in those who do.

I think he was being tongue-in-cheek.

Either way, this isn't the most Christian way to share the good word. I don't recall Jesus telling disciples to be "fishers of dumb arse Motherfrickers".

I don't know why but I can't stop laughing at this.

And it sounds like something Rufus the apostle would say

These threads are always good for a laugh or three.

It is amazing to see the lack of reading comprehension.

I feel I should put my .2 in. I was Pentecostal, and so was my wife. We have both done it, although it has been a while back, a long while. It is real, just as it happened in the bible, on the day of Pentecost. I can't really explain it, but it happened. Some of this stuff I have seen in these non-denom churches seem fake to me, I can spot it pretty quick. The tongue thing is a sign of the infilling of the Holy Spirit, that is all. Some people speak in tongues at church, but someone has to be there to interpret what is being said, if there is no interpretation, it is fake. I could go on, but I will stop here.

I'll post this again:

Remember in South Park when cartman just says ping pong ping because he doesn't understand that Chinese people actually have a language?

It's the same exact thing. The apostles spoke in tongues after the Pentecost. Speaking in tongues refers to speaking many languages, not some nonsense universal language made by wagging your tongue a lot. One of the languages they spoke was Aramaic, and crackpot false prophets latched onto it and invented speaking in tongues.

People in mass churches who "speak in tongues" think they are speaking Aramaic or some universal language, through the grace of God, but in reality they're just making noise for no reason.

quote:

Some people speak in tongues at church, but someone has to be there to interpret what is being said, if there is no interpretation, it is fake.

You're telling me you believe there are tongue interpreters?
