Is it really worth the wait? If so, how long is the wait on a Saturday?

No. It is, arguably, the best brisket available. But, on a Saturday with temperatures hovering in the 100's...

La BBQ, John Mueller, Micklethwaite, or Stiles Switch are also all good. Pick the one with the shortest line

I used to go when Franklin just started out of the food truck. Miss those days cause it's way too mainstream now for my taste

Not worth the wait IMO

Overrated, but it is good. Not worth the wait.

there are so many great places I don't think I'd wait. just get some beer and drive to salt lick.

I'd drive to Twisted X brewery and grab some Chupahopra IPA and head to Salt Lick. Damn good plan, sir.

I treated it as an entire experience. I got out there at like 7:30am with friends and we brought lawn chairs, beer, and breakfast tacos and just hung out drank and talked to other people waiting in line. It all just depends on how you treat the wait. We just made it an entire ordeal.

Sounds like the old Nola Smokehouse. Do they run out of food?

the lines aren't remotely comparable. Franklin is a 5 hour event, at least .

In my opinion, no restaurant is worth a 5 hour wait unless I'm 6 hours from starving to death.

It's never worth waiting more than 20 minutes for. You can find pretty close to equivalent brisket at other places with half the wait.

Austin in a nutshell

Franklin's is terrific, but the wait on a Saturday would make it just as worth it to go elsewhere.
I've been impressed with John Mueller, Iron Works, and La Barbecue.

Going tomorrow evening, but it's for a rehearsal supper, so I have no idea what to expect.
