They've never had a big budget film starring an Asian who isn't named Jackie Chan or Jet Li.

John Cho would have to call bullshite on this statement unless you have never heard of Star Trek.

You keep saying this but where are these egregious examples of removing what should have been an Asian lead?

He's like the 7th most important character. Sure they'll occasionally throw another Asian guy a bone, but they're sure as shite aren't going to make him the main character.

This bitch is full of shite. Will Smith saved Earth from alien destruction at least twice that I know of, and you know what? He did a damn good job both times and I aint even mad at him. We all know Jeff Goldblum wasn't getting that virus into the mothership without Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones wasn't retrieving that galaxy without him either. Not to mention on both occasions he made saving Earth look gooooooooooood.

So white folk took a back seat to a black man in two of the most important hero roles of all time, fighting off aliens to save all mankind. And I've not once heard anyone bitch about it.

No mention on the last samurai starting Tom Cruise? Or of Mickey Rooney's rendition in Breakfast at Tiffany's? Those are some of the most ridiculous ones

I mean, it's ridiculous, but at least there were white men arming the Japanese during the time of the film. A white guy being out in 10th Century China though is the most ridiculous thing put out in years. I seriously doubt a white man stepped foot in that country during the time. I don't see how you can defend him being there, since the Silk Road had been long closed and required the invasion of the Mongols to reopen it.

I tried to keep it recent. All those are within the past decade. Of course past decades were worse, but my point is the practice is still gloriously in play.

Is this really that egregious? It's not like Cruise took the place of what should have been an Asian.

Well no, but the insinuation of Tom Cruise being the last samurai is still hilarious

I'll go see a good movie, regardless of what race the starring roles are.

There are too many white people in films, its not reflecting the world. We need more diverse leading men and women. Why cant we see a black guy getting the white girl more often ?

Moses was played by christian bale ? really ?

but then again. matt damon will draw more seats then chan

I mean I don't disagree fully, it is imbalanced and can seem odd like this film, however, all of the other minorities and smaller populations will go see a Matt Damon film way before most other stars.

If people don't go see Matt Damon films, we'll stop getting Matt Damon in films. If they want different leads, then don't go see any film with a lead you don't like and encourage the people around you to do the same. Then support the leads you do like and want. Hollywood is going to follow the money, not the feelings.
