on the surface, I was pissed, but if he served in the Navy and it's a USNS (which means it's manned by a civilian crew)it's a lot better than naming aircraft carriers after politicians

now the jokes will be epic...and let them begin

Got some proof of that one? Or just spewing nonsense?

What passes for bravery these days.

Instead of the saying 'he went down with the ship" , they can now say they went down on the ship

It's probably true. His "friend" was 16. I don't know what age of consent was in CA at the time.

No, being gay in SF was easier than in most places in the US at the time.

Harvey Milk was a Diving Officer on a submarine rescue ship in the early/mid '50s. That probably required some bravery.

When Milk ran for office and got elected to the SF Board of Supervisors (~City Council), he was the first openly gay person to get elected. There were certainly already gay politicians, but they weren't willing to publicize the fact. Milk used it to his advantage, but contrary to the belief of the OT, not everyone in SF is gay and in the '70s there was much less tolerance of gays than there is today. So that required some bravery, as well.

Dan White didn't shoot Milk because he was gay. He shot him because Milk and Moscone fricked him over. Willie Brown was also on White's hit list. It's good for him that he was out of the office that day.

According to the ESPY's, changing from a man to a woman counts...

So, just about anything

I know for a fact that the Navy can't stand Mabus. And I might have heard a highly listed Officer in the Navy mention that Ray Mabus himself is a homosexual.

It was the Arthur Ashe Award, and I'm sure millions of parents and kids watched it and had to explain to their kids why this woman/man transgender w/e you call it won this prestigious award. Not a conversation I would want to have to explain to my kids (if I had any) why this thing won the award.

Anytime the liberal left pushes their agenda into places it shouldn't is pretty annoying, and if you don't like it you can stfu

I do find it funny they decided to name after a gay rights activist a boat that runs a hose into other boats and fills them full of its fluids.

You're assuming Milk was a pitcher, and not a catcher. I'll have to check the official rules book, but I think that constitutes homophobia.
