What songs were made popular or brought back to popularity by a TV Show or Movie. Or atlas what connections do you make when you hear these songs. I will start with a few

Green Day - Time of your life - Seinfeld Finale

ETA: Actually the Seinfeld Clip show. Part 2

Stones - You cant always get what you want - Californication
Journey - Don't stop believin - Sopranos

What you got?

Good Riddance was popular long before Seinfeld used it.

You are spot on about the Sopranos and Don't Stop Believing. It has become more popular now than it ever was in 1981.

ETA
To all those downvoting me, sorry to burst your nostalgia bubble, but I'm 100% correct. While Don't Stop Believing was a success when initially released, it only made it to #9 in the US and didn't even crack the UK charts. In 2009, it made it to #6 in the UK. It remains the #1 song download on iTunes not from the 21st century. In 2008 and 2009 it was the 72nd and 84th most popular download. The Sopranos finale came out in 2007.

So suck it, I'm right.

So the Stones You can't always get what you want wasn't popular before Californication?

Don't Stop Believing was a hit when it came out, these maybe were made more popular after their use.

Any song for Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction.

As far as songs in commercial, Nick Drake's Pink Moon got tons of exposure long after its release and his death

I'll Be There For You - The Rembrandts (Friends song)

quote:

Journey - Don't stop believin - Sopranos

Grew up listening to Journey, this was a hit when it came out. Just became popular with other generations because of TV shows like Sopranos and Glee.

I don't know if this counts the originally song started out this way.

quote:

Singing the blues when the Red Sox lose,
it's a crisis in your life.
On the run 'cause all your girlfriends
wanna be your wife.
And the laundry ticket's in the wash.

But it was changed for the show to
quote:

Making your way in the world today
takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries
sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like to get away?

Where everyone knows your name

Well the last 2 were very very popular before the shows considering I've never watched either of them and I know both and that both have been on multiple shows because they are so iconic. And the correct answer to your question is danger zone.
