I don't get this mentality. Do any of you remember when WE hired Miles? It was about 5 days after he'd committed to staying at Ok State.

How? Sign a new contract? Make the statement, "I will be back at LSU next year"?

Miles could leave to coach Michigan next year. He could also be appointed ambassador to Sweden and be shipped out tomorrow. I'm about equally worried about each possibility.

i think saying you're going to be the coach next year, and signing a contract potentially worth 3.4 million a year are sufficient squashing.

Seriously, come on people...can we get past this? we are going to start looking delusional to other schools

It's not LSU fans making this stuff up, so how are we looking delusional?

These are media reports. Fans respond to such things. It won't die until Michigan hires a coach.

Who the hell would leave LSU to coach a garbage program in a mediocre conference?

I was told that Miles had signed a contract extension with Oklahoma State the week before he left for LSU. Do any of you remember this?

What's more likely about where Miles will coach next year: (a) LSU; (b) UM or (c) Miami Dolphins?

My bet is (a), but after all that's gone on this year, even (c) wouldn't surprise me.

Whether he plans to leave or not, he should have enough sense to realize this is a major distraction. I was starting to like Miles, but the bull shite has to end.
You can point directly to these distractions for our subpar recruiting efforts. I've got to believe that he is in fact entertaining the idea of leaving, or else he would have told Michigan to leave him the fuk alone.

I live near Alexandria, and this ran as the sports headlines. Distractions, distractions, distractions. What the fuk is Miles thinking??

miles has done exactly what he's done before, and in that situation he left OSU to come to LSU

thing is that since we've heard or seen nothing of getting a DC, it makes me wonder what's going on. Just because he signed an extension means nothing. His original contract wasn't up yet, so what's the difference. I want him to stay, but I just don't get it...is he not able to speak about DC possibilities and coach for the NC at the same time when recruiting is as stake>?

And what would the result of that conversation have been? Maybe something like,

ESPN reports that LSU Coach Les Miles has again contacted Michigan Athletic Director Martin! There is no indication as to the subject or nature of this conversation, but totally unsubstantiated speculation and assumption lead one directly to the conclusion that he has signed a new contract with Michigan to become their new head coach!

you act like miles is completely innocent and all of these media reports are coming from nowhere to hurt him

he agreed to leave. UM hasn't found somebody else. they're playing, "let's makeup" to get miles back

end of story

After listening to the Miles interview on the Dan Patrick show it makes me wonder if LSU might be better off without Miles if he says his heart will always be at Michigan.

My fear is that if Miles passes on his dream job and signs a fat contract at LSU he may just start cashing checks.

Yes. It's very cold in Sweden, and I doubt he and the girls have any decent winter coats after living in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Dallas the last 8-10 years.
