Does Cannizaro become LSU Head Baseball coach after PM?

Is he now the "coach in waiting"? How many more years does CPM continue his coaching career?

Why would a program like LSU hire someone who has never done anything just to save relocation costs? Why do people always want to hire within? How many times in the history of sports has it been a good hire?

No. LSU is the best baseball program in the country on a consistent basis. They don't hire assistants.

Tulane didnt't hire him and you think LSU will? No chance.
He's an awesome coach and recruiter, but LSU will have a long list of applicants with a lot more experience that will line up for that job

CPM is here for at least 5 more years. Cannizarro will be a head coach somewhere by then.

maybe when he goes to a sunbelt/southland school for 3-5 years and takes them to a few regionals

I don't care what anybody says. I wish he would. Look how good our hitting has been last two seasons. One with loaded roster next with all new players basically

CPM has been quoted, if I am not mistaken, as saying he would like to coach till he's at a set age (sorry, forgetting what that age is ) but it was more than 5 yrs down the road. Consider what the weenies's AD had to say about his hire, paraphrasing, I wanted to hire a coach who had a proven record of consistent success over a period of yrs. As a HC. Doubt that Andy hangs around LSU once he gets that level of experience.

Being a hitting coach vs being a head coach are not the same thing. LSU is not a program that hires up and coming assistants. They should be hiring proven head coaches. That can be from anywhere but should still be head coaches that have won a ton of games wherever they are.

As many as he feels like.

He's qualified to be one of the best hitting coaches in college baseball, yes. However, he is not close to being qualified to become to head coach after CPM. Job is too big for it to be AC's first head coaching job.

Jimbo Fisher seems to be a pretty good example. I'm sure there are many more.
Hiring from within ensures there isn't a dip in production or a change in philosophy, if it's working of course. I think AC is a rising star in the sport and probably should be given the opportunity to be the HC after a few more years under PM.

Jimbo Fisher is the exception not the rule. Considering most coaches are fired or forced out hiring from whithin is not a good option.

The Jimbo Fisher situation was a disaster that resulted in FSU pushing out a living legend. Good news for FSU is Jimbo is a good coach. What they did to Bowden was pretty crappy, though.

For the love of God, please let the term "coach in waiting" die.
