How many on here use mayo as a marinade for a steak?

According to this website, it's the bees knees. Anyone want to be the F&D Board guinea pig and give it a try?

1. Fat = flavor. It’s like oiling the pan but without the middleman.
2. Think of it like a wet brine. Add your favorite dry rub to the mayo or simply season with salt and pepper. The mayo will suspend the spices, so they don’t fall off.
3. It helps create a thick crust, sealing in flavor and giving optimal char.

Can you dry age it in the mayo then finish it in the microwave?

I love using a sambal, garlic, fish sauce, mayo marinade for Steak and chicken. One of my favorite ways to prepare salmon (that my Icelandic grandma always made me when I was growing up)is topped with dill mayo and then grilled or baked all the way skin side down.

I recommend having your ketchup at room temp when eating steaks cooked with this method.

It's the only way to keep the spices from falling off!!!

I see a bunch of haters here. I'm a bit intrigued. Mayo instead of butter on a grilled cheese was something I avoided until I tried it and I had great results. I'd be up for the challenge.

Mayo in a grilled cheese is outstanding. Mayo as a marinade is intriguing.

I use mayo for grilled cheese sandwiches because it creates a better crust
I could see using it for cheap cuts

A friend of mine rubs his whole chickens in mayo before smoking.
The thought of a chicken lathered up in mayo, slow smoking all day makes me want to vomit.

Anyone else dip their pork chops in mayo? Whenever I eat pork chops - grilled, fried, whatever - I put a plop of mayo on the side of my plate and dip. I also dip my hot sausage in mayo when I'm eating red beans & rice (which I also put mayo in).

Mayo used instead of butter on a grilled cheese is really good. Just spread on both sides of the bread and griddle away.
