Fantastic review.

I cannot wait for the How Did This Get Made segment on this show.

10 years from now they will have shows that start with "remember when they did that Ghosbuster chick movie and thought it was a good idea?"

It sounds like it confirms what they have been trying to shield the entire time - this is simply a bad movie

His review is a little off...and sounds like this is the first time he's ever seen Leslie Jones before...

Discussing Leslie Jones:

"Why did they cast the black woman to play the loud stereotypical black woman, 'oh hell no'..."

"I'm sure she could be really funny if they didn't make her the angry black woman."

Then he got to know Leslie Jones as the movie progressed, I guess...

"She was just annoying me almost the entire film."

It will probably be a bad movie, but:

'They weren't in on the joke in the original'

Is he fricking serious?

Wow, they shoot the big ghost at the end in the dick to kill him. This is worse than I thought.

I can't wait for the Half in the Bag review for this. Sounds like it could be the most trashed movie since "Jack and Jill".

I find Melissa McCarthy hysterical in Bridemaids, Heat, and Spy, all of her previous collaborations with Paul Feig. So I really wanted to like this movie. But the first trailer just ruined me on it, primarily due to Leslie Jones. Then the reaction by liberals to the genuine negative criticism of the trailers further ruined me on it. So now I want this movie to fail so badly that everyone involved, except for Chris Hemsworth, sees their career ruined. I want this to be to those involved what Cut Throat Island was to Gena Davis (destroyed her career permanently - look it up).

Who actually thought this movie was going to be good other than flannel wearing donkeys?

Well, that review was both satisfying and a little infuriating.

When does the review embargo lift on rotten tomatoes?

The trailers were bad. But what really tipped me off were the 2-4 commercials on tv like the insurance one (the one with flo). I feel as if they're trying to preemptively pad their losses because they know it will tank.

quote:

The film will please fans of the original even as it wins new followers for Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones.

quote:

The cast is awesome. McCarthy does her very best well-mannered-but-exasperated Everywoman here, and the dialogue includes bits of ‘polite women dithering’ that are truly hilarious. Wiig is at her best, Jones is a revelation, Chris Hemsworth is a wonderful surprise in the movie and Kate McKinnon steals the show. They’re all weirdly endearing, too, and it has nothing to do with nostalgia.

quote:

No, it is easy to see what the Ghostbusters furor is really about: angry, bored, women-hating men expending otherwise untapped energy mining their own feelings of social inadequacy in a toxic bid for attention. If Sony and the Ivan Reitman brain trust had somehow convinced Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and the ghost of Harold Ramis to headline a new, straight-up Ghostbusters sequel, surely few of the Internet trolls would object. Just, you know, keep women out of the picture.

quote:

Remaking this beloved film with women as leads is an act revolutionary enough to attract the ire of legions of Ghostbros insisting that the very concept will warp time and space to retroactively ruin their childhoods. But it’s also, you know, remaking a beloved film, one of Hollywood’s least revolutionary habits. Director Paul Feig and co-writer Katie Dippold sometimes seem caught between nodding to the past and rolling their eyes at the haters, when the gesture they really want to make is to flip the bird to everyone.

quote:

Jones, McCarthy, McKinnon, and Wiig are so good together — and in ways that are distinctively theirs and not recycled from the past — that their message of not giving a damn resonates better than the movie’s underwhelming climax. Saving the world and reliving memories of the older film isn’t the interesting part of Ghostbusters. The interesting part is in how these characters bounce off of one another along the way, these brilliant, awkward, hilarious women who come to find they need affirmation only from one another. It's a sight that’s worth all the nasty comment sections the internet has to offer.

No, seriously you guys, these are from 3 top critics. The movie is wonderful. All is well....
