Not saying they were smart or that the hazing is "right". Just saying that the "pay for friends" and "willing to do anything for friends" shtick is over played and doesn't apply to all fraternities.

The push ups , being yelled at , forced drinking , and some other stuff yep. The nasty shite and gay arse shite, nope. Hazing is meant to do two things, build brotherhood and serve actives. If an active hazed and it didn't involve the two previous subjects, his arse got beat by the other actives.

Obviously dramatized but a lot of that is not that far off. It comes and goes depending on how long it has been since someone in the frat or a frat in the university got into trouble.
I'd still take a white frat initiation any day over a black Fraternity though.
I've never understood why people make fun of frats for hazing when most of that stuff is no different than a lot of your military initiations, hell weeks, etc.
