Stopped at Taco Bell just south of Lafayette on my way down to Venice for a few days. Group of 9-10 middle aged baws with their wives and children, quite obviously coming from evening church services, just finished ordering when I arrive.

When they all get their food one of the younger baws gets up on a chair and loudly asks for the restaurant's attention before then asking all patrons to join him in prayer. I think it was pretty obvious he was trying to impress the elder baws, but that may be besides the point.

I know the OT is flush with free-thinkers and old-school baws alike, so I had to get a ruling on the social acceptance of such a bold move. Pretty sure I made the right decision in ignoring his obnoxious request and continue munching down on my steak quesadilla.

What if a Muslim man asked for the same thing? Would it matter?

Sidebar: why do all South Louisiana baws have that half-assed Cajun accent? It sounds about as stupid as the clowns on the alligator hunting show you all love. #ChootHimLOL

You eat inside taco bell?

Anyway, just go on about your business and keep enjoying your meal.

It's definitely a good idea to pray before eating Taco Bell.

Offer to lead the prayer and recite the flying spaghetti monster prayer.

I can see where he is coming from, and I can see where you are coming from. I generally do not pray before I eat, but I'd consider it before eating Taco Bell.

Seems to me to be a bit attention whorish.

"when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full."

Jesus is known to have done this same thing a few times in his life

quote:

What if a Muslim man asked for the same thing? Would it matter?
Yeah, it matters. Muslims don't believe in Jesus, which I do. Ironically, many Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet.

I take it as a little a rude. I'm not big on others imposing their faith on everyone else unsolicited.

No need to call a restaurant to prayer. Bless one's meal and move along

That's absurd. I wouldn't cause a scene as a reaction, though.

Not like prayers work anyway.

I wouldn't have been inside a fricking taco bell for one.

Should my life ever take such a wrong turn, and I ever find myself in such a situation, I would ignore him and continue my meal while trying and failing to not say grace in my head. 13 years pf catholic school.

Having said that, I'm sure I've done worse than say a prayer in tsco bell to get a piece of pussy. And trust me, overly religious protestant pussy is damned good.

Ask them if they've read Matthew 6:5.

I expect that people who use the term "baw" would eat inside of a Taco Bell.

If I saw someone praying in a Taco bell, I would immediately assume that someone else died

I'm not a fan of this being atheist, but I don't hate faith or those who aren't too pushy. My agenda is to keep it out of our schools and politics.

I've learned to fight the fights that are worth fighting and let ppl like that do their thing. Religious ppl are usually slow so you convince him inside a Taco Bell that it was rude and you do not believe. So just ignore it and keep eating.
