Arkansas woman accused of illegally selling $130k+ in food stamp benefits

ALT LAKE CITY (AP) - An Arkansas woman is facing multiple charges for allegedly defrauding Utah of more than $130,000 in food stamp benefits.
KSL-TV of Salt Lake City reported Sunday that 40-year-old Keashia Latriese Davis was recently indicted on 17 federal counts of fraud.
The Utah Department of Workforce Services says data checks found multiple benefit cards were being used in Arkansas. Federal investigators say the cards were traced to Davis, of Little Rock.
According to court documents, Davis used other people's names, personal identifying information as well as a Utah address to get the cards. She then allegedly sold them for cash.

Back in the early 60's my first job was dispensing real commodities in East Baton Rouge Parrish. People came to Ryan Airport, the state had issued a card with amounts and types of food to be issued. Cheese, Beef, Pork, Vegetables, etc... all canned.
We seriously need to go back that. Every other time I check out, no matter what grocery store, cept maybe Publix's there is an EBT customer in front of me. After they pay for their food then they buy their cigarettes separately. We are subsidizing their addictions.

I had a great aunt back in the 80's and 90's she qualified for "assistance". She really was poor and a veteran's widow btw. She would get actual food products, cheese, coffee, beans, stuff like that. She didn't drink coffee so would give it to others. Was decent, I mean beans roasted and ground, kinda hard to mess up. I don't mind that kinda stuff. Handing out cards and cash is asking for abuse of the system.
