Well since you brought this up let us compare Correa to Bregman in the minors. I think most people would agree that Correa is one of the rare exceptions that matures and makes an impact very early in their young professional career (e.g. Alex Rodriguez comp).
Given how Correa signed for the majors directly out of high school and Bregman went to college I feel it a unfair comparison to lump low level minors service time between the two. Since Bregman moved through the two lower levels of A ball on short season and Correa spent a full year in A ball and had an injury shortened A+.
So if we look at performance between AA and AAA (year Correa was promoted) we see that Correa had a very short run in those two levels
AA-AAA
Games: 53
PA: 246
BA: .335
OBP: .407
SLG: .600
OPS: 1.007
2B: 21
3B: 3
HR: 10
RBI: 44
BB: 27
SO: 39
AA-AAA
Games: 67
PA: 308
BA: .311
OBP: .423
SLG: .607
OPS: 1.030
2B: 18
3B: 2
HR: 18
RBI: 57
BB: 44
SO: 32
We can see when looking at the numbers that they compare very favorably from a plate discipline standpoint. Bregman has demonstrated more power than expected at the higher levels which will play well at 3B in the majors. To your point about situations being different I concur, last season the Astros unexpectedly found themselves in the midst of a playoff run and had a black hole at SS. Correa had shown enough between the two levels to get the call to the majors. Fast-forward to this season and Bregman has displayed similar mastery thus far of the higher levels of the minor leagues. Current 3B Luis Valbuena is playing over his career numbers from the last 3 or 4 years so I do not expect him to be a block, I could actually see the Astros trading him (selling high) as he is a free agent after this season.

The 21 ABs at AAA is a small sample size. He's been in AAA a week.
I'm done arguing with you people. When he gets called up, I'll come back to say I'm wrong, if that happens before September. I still don't think he'll be up before next season but as I said in a previous post "I COULD BE WRONG."

I am simply attempting to understand how you think the Astros would keep him down for financial reasons (please explain) and small sample size when clearly if a player has demonstrated mastery between AA-AAA they have called them up (Correa, LMJ, etc.)

Same thing that happened with Kris Bryant at the Cubs. The later you call up a player the farther you push back arbitration for that player. In other words you get them for real cheap until a later date.

the Cubs were shite in 2014, so there was no need to rush Bryant up.
The Astro's are one of the 3 most talented teams in the AL and are pushing for a playoff spot. With half of a season left there is enough games to justify calling him up now. Even so, he is well past the date to where this would count as a full service year

I really don't know. I am one who thinks he will be called up at some point this year. I have said since the beginning of the year that he will be a September call up but if he keeps playing like he is and the third base position in Houston is never figured out he could get a shot sooner.

This seriously can't be said enough.
The Stros are in playoff contention. If they miss the playoffs by 1 game and Alex Bregman doesn't play a single inning for the majors, there will be LOTS of questioning going on

Astros GM Jeff Luhnow said yesterday could be up by end of July but more like August. Either way, I was dead wrong. My apologies for insulting all of you.

I picked them to represent the AL in the WS

Yeah, I remember. I'm an Astros homer and I didn't expect them to get to WS this year.
Just surprised you still have them that highly ranked on your talent ranking.
I still think they have too many weaknesses wig SP rotation and #7-#9 in the batting order:
And Cheo... Solid crawfish job on your earlier posts in this thread.

He homered tonight. Again.

Bregman has 5 HR in 8 AAA games.
That pace would give him 101 HR in a 162 game MLB season.

I'd be surprised if Bregman made it to the majors this year unless he gets traded. The Astros are conservative about bringing up prospects, and money is usually at the center at that.
Best bet is that he's in Triple-A until next May or June when the Super Two date passes. It pushes Bregman's earliest arbitration date back a year and pushes his free agency back a year. In short, it gives the Astros an extra year of control over him.
For further proof, George Springer (called up in 2014), Carlos Correa (2015) and A.J. Reed (2016) weren't called up to the big leagues until after they passed their Super Two dates.
So while it's fun to watch Bregman tear apart the minors, don't expect him in the bigs this year unless he gets traded in a deadline deal at the end of the month.
Bump.

quote: Astros are conservative about bringing up prospects yet you cite them bringing up a 20 yr old last year as an example? Correa had been in the minors for three years because he was 17 when he was drafted. Waiting for three years to call up a No. 1 overall draft pick is the definition of "conservative." Don't focus on his age, focus on how long he's been in the minors. When the Astros put someone in the big leagues within a year of drafting him, like they did Craig Biggio in 1988, or when they put someone in the bigs without time in the minors, like the Braves did with Bob Horner in 1978, then Bregman-to-the-bigs-this-moment will have more legs. Correa No. 1 pick in 2012 draft And, of course, the Astros GM is quoted as saying they're not worried about calling up Bregman right now. Also, go back and read what I said in my previous post. There are financial incentives for the Astros to keep Bregman in the minors until next season that deal with delaying his arbitration and free agency down the road. And the Astros have been financially conservative since this ownership group took over. Money is always a big consideration for them. No big offseason free-agency purchases. They're 24th in MLB payroll this year. From May 2015: Astros can't afford to delay Correa's promotion 2016 MLB Team Payroll I know that breaks the hearts of the LSU baseball homers on this board, but it just shows your ignorance when it comes to Major League Baseball. I can't wait to see Bregman in an Astros uniform, too, and, it's possible, but doubtful he comes up in September. I'm realistic and I don't look at the world through purple-and-gold lenses. I'm sorry reality conflicts with the narrative that Alex Bregman should be in the bigs now because he's an LSU star. There's more to life than LSU sports, and amazingly, the rest of the world doesn't look at sports from an LSU viewpoint. Get out in the world more and especially learn more about MLB, asshats.
I thought this was the best part personally. He tried to sound like some baseball know it all. Turns out he's just an arse that doesn't know shite

If he comes up with the Astros at all in 2016, it will be in September when the rosters expand to 40. If he's in the big leagues before that, it's because he got traded on or a few days before the July 31 non-waiver trading deadline (educate yourself on that phrase and get back to me about an MLB discussion), which is a possibility if the Astros are still in the wild-card race and they go after an impact big-league player.
Last I checked, we are still in JULY.
This tool called EVERYONE an "asshat" for believing Bregs would get a call up by Stros before Sept.
