Turkish MP Eren Erdem said in his Twitter feed that the blasts were suicide bomb attacks, adding that a large number of people were injured.

Terrible thing to happen anywhere though. Awful that any group of people is going to do things like this.

It really is.
The crazies bombing other Muslims.
They seem to be executing at a better rate as of late, or finally stopped ramming their heads into our collective security apparatus.

Yeah suicide bomber attacks in turkey have a ton to do with regulating assault rifle purchases/ownership in the US. Practically the same thing

Guy mentioned it on BBC and it reminded me.
THe airport there has security at the entrance of the terminal (I think). Lot of those damage pics looked sort of outside. Another report said they may have been spotted and detonated early.
So putting that all together that would make some sense that they didn't get past security at all and just detonated. This is why putting security before the airport isn't really a great solution, as it creates grouping there, but I guess an open air bomb explosion is better than a confined space explosion.
ETA: Officials say security shot at them at security checkpoint, so they detonated.

Well. To be fair, I am pretty sure the Dems can spin this into an anti- gun issue. They have managed every other time.

10 people dead at this time.
Even the Marriott hotel outside Ataturk airport had an X Ray scanner when I stayed there.

Correct. You and your bags gets scanned before you even get to baggage claim or ticketing.

Ya I flew through there and Dalaman airport so I was trying not to mix them up. I think both, like many foreign airports (Phuket) do the outside checkpoint thing.
