I'm actually surprised a bit by Indonesia, considering they've had a female Prime Minister.

Look at Pakistan. They had a female Prime Minster and Sharia has 84% support. Course they killed her so there's that.

Ya, I remember that.

As with a lot of things, there are a lot of weird local intricacies to some of this. For example, I'd be curious who actually gets to vote in Pakistan. The real nut jobs may not be able to since they are in a cave somewhere.

I mean, if you hate women, you aren't going to vote for one. So now I'm interested in how she got in. I know her family was a political dynasty.

ETA: Just realized she gets appointed once her party gets elected in. Still, kinda odd.

fuark im going there next week as the first leg of a trip around europe. I wanted to go there first bc there's a flight from houston on turkish airways that was the cheapest first class seat to europe i could find and the plane looked great. I doubt I can get a refund now so close to departure, right?

A lot of the damage looks beyond the security checkpoints. It was either one hell of a blast or some kind of hand grenade type of explosive may have been used (as if it were tossed over the partition wall at the initial security checkpoint).

That whole check in/ticketing building is sort built like a giant big box store with very high ceilings. They built lobbies with 12' high partition walls and funnel inbound passengers through security before they get to the big, open ticketing area. A lot of the damage photos I see are of the ticketing area and the drop off area immediately outside those checkpoints.

After ticketing, there's passport control and another security checkpoint before you get to the terminal. I don't see any photos of that area damaged.

You're leaning on a terrorist attack and who knows how operational the airport will be.

So good chance you could get a flight change. You should look into it.

It sounds like they made a run for it once they were spotted, so maybe that explains it. Big bomb and just pushed past security. Took them a few seconds to get guns out and fire, bombs detonate.

A lot of the stuff I'm reading said they had guns and hand grenades... and then blew themselves up.

On CNN they are showing all these people running, and this one black baw is just strutting as people run by him.

There's definitely pretty significant damage beyond the initial security checkpoint.
