The Zephyrs was the name of Robert E. Lee's battalion during the inquisition when they killed all of the French and settled in Grand Isle.

I think the zephyrs name was the name in Colorado before relocating to New Orleans

Would the New Orleans Metairies appease you?

The Zephyrs should have taken Pelicans and the NBA team Voodoo or brass.

The positive in this is my hometown of Montgomery will be replaced as the worst team name/mascot in professional sports.
The negative is everything else. The names are atrocious!

The NBA team should have taken the "Mormon Polygamists" then traded with Utah for the Jazz.
Can the Zephyrs become the Jazz? Then trade with the Pelicans so all can be right in the world.
If not Zephyrs should become Mormons Polygamists then make trade for Jazz.

Is this whole rename thing serious? If so, why? The list of seven would require anybody in attendance to wear a bag over their heads, and would guarantee an absolutely abysmal fan base. I mean who could support any of those names?

You serious Clark?
They are names after the old Zephyr rollercoaster from Pontachtrain beach. If you were being sarcastic my bad.

That wouldn't be any worse than the other choices

How about the New Orleans Wild Maus?

I submitted the New Orleans Spirits. For the spirits served on Bourbon, the holy spirit of the Catholic Church, the spirits of the paranormal and the spirit of the love of sports. But, apparently Baby Cakes was much better

I can roll with this. In fact, ever since I read this an hour ago I've been craving a Poboy.

Per wiki
In 1985, the team name was changed to the Denver Zephyrs, after the famous passenger train. Barry Larkin was league MVP while with the Zephyrs, as were Greg Vaughn, Jim Olander, and Jim Tatum. ESPN broadcaster Orestes Destrade also played for the Zephyrs. Under the new nickname, the franchise won the American Association in 1987 and took the 1991 pennant. They went on to win the 1991 Triple-A Classic against the International League's Columbus Clippers, 4–1.[2]

Maybe it was just a coincidence that both used the same name
