Was driving to lunch yesterday and rolled through a stop sign I roll through everyday. Sure enough I look up and See two cops parked across the street. One immediately hits the lights and I pull over. He asks for my registration and I tell him "just giving you a heads up I have a pistol in the glove box with my registration". He says no problem and runs my info. Comes back and tells me to watch those stop signs and have a nice day. No ticket. The guy couldn't have been 22 years old, and played it like a pro.

I was so excited I went and impulse bought a gen 4 glock 19 in the bronze color.

Every single story I have read about immediately informing the officer that you are armed ends up with a warning only and no ticket.

Had this happen to me coming home from Toledo two years in Zwolle. Older officer walked straight up, I had both hands on the wheel. He asked for my license and registration. I tell him that my .45 is mounted under my steering wheel. He looks and says "oh XD fan? That's the same piece I carry."

Ran my crap and let me go

Yeah, I had never seen one until I walked in the store. Guy at work paid me some money from the nba finals bet he lost so I just said what the heck I've been wanting a gen 4 anyway and that one looks cool.

My encounter went like this. Got pulled over for having a headlight out. Told the officer I had a handgun attached to the steering column. We got to talking about Precision Firearms. Chatted for about 5min about where to shoot handguns, etc. Let go with a warning.

I showed the officer my license and concealed carry permit when he walked up to my window after an illegal U turn in Metairie. Told him I had a firearm on me. He said no problem, ran my info and gave me a nice $200 ticket.

Are you supposed to inform the officer if pulled over with a rifle/shotgun in the back?

Haha, just because I got lucky doesn't make me an expert on this subject.

However, I have always let cops know when I have guns. Been asked out of the vehicle twice. One lady was cool but it was 10pm and I had 5 rifles in the car so she just asked me to stay on the curb while she ran my info and then let me go.

The other was a shakedown by some no name Alabama town deputy. I was going turkey hunting and had my shotgun, cc pistol, and truck pistol. He asked "why you need so much firepower" and I told him I was going turkey hunting and the other two were for protection. He then asked to search my vehicle which I had a problem with (12 am on a bama highway, black cop who I could tell didn't like this white country boy) and I reluctantly told him he could so I could meet my buddy at camp. He takes 15 min and finds nothing. Let's me go with a warning.

I got pulled over last year on Hwy 84 just south of Brookhaven, Ms during deer season. I had a bad brake light. I was all camo'd up and had a ruger 10/22 tricked out to look like an AR15 on the front seat and 2-3 guns in the back seat of my SUV. As soon as he walked up, I had hands on the wheel and told him I had guns in the truck and he said oh really, what kind. I told him and he told me why he stopped me and sent me on my way.

Do you need to have a registration with you to have a handgun in your car? I live in Texas and thought the law was that your vehicle was an extension of your home so it was fine to have one in your car nothing else needed.

LA is pretty lax regarding carrying in the car. But i thought I heard something about TX that you can not conceal a firearm while in the car.

Is that the case?

It depends on the situation on whether I inform the officer. 99x out of 100, I don't say anything.

I don't allow searches. My car is stopped, all windows down, flashers on, keys on dash.

If it's local PD and they are being idiots, I call the mayor and LSP for harassment. If it's parish, it typically ends in "good night sir" if it doesn't, I call their shift supervisor.

I never have less than 2 weapons in the vehicle, and none that are visible or near any documents.

Had a cop get me in pineville. Made me step out and I told him I had my 9mm XD in the truck and he proceeds to talk to me for about 20 minutes about guns. Told me he though I was a good dude and made an honest mistake speeding in a construction zone. Told me he would give me a break and then writes the tickets for 5mph less than what i was going
