Were you Supply or some other administrative MOS? There's no way this would fly in any combat-oriented unit. My command would have had the NCOs get their shite together or they would be admin-sep'd.

Key word = Barstow! You do know that is a logistics base, right? I was an MP. I later transferred to Camp Lejuene, where I did train with/was connected to the field units (2nd FSSG) and the MEU.

No, you have to do that to be considered for basic training.

Pathetic. I thought military was a source of pride. Turns out anyone can do it. Unlike law school or med school.

Anyone could do it, but there's bitches like you that hide when a recruiter calls you, or your parents hang up the phone because they think you're too special to do that, or you're a weak bitch that isn't even QUALLIFIED.

Talking shite is easy, you're doing it right now while 18 year olds are getting thrashed in San Diego or Paris Island.

No I'm not. I'm just pointing out how weak the requirements are to sign up.

I have family that are Marines. A few that are very high ranking. I wouldn't frick with them.

SEAL Physical Screening Test Minimum
Requirements (PST)

PST
Minimums
SWIM 500 YDS.Side stroke/breast stroke
12:30 min
REST 10 MIN.
PUSH-UPS (within 2 min)
42
Rest 2 minutes
SIT-UPS (within 2 min)
50
Rest 2 minutes
PULL-UPS (no time limit)
6
Rest 10 minutes
1.5 MILE RUN 11:00 min

These are the Navy SEAL minimums. Not too much difference. The military doesn't ask people to come in ready to take Baghdad. They simply ask that you come in and are willing to put in the effort. The Marines will get people in shape, they just ask that they have the desire to be there. Some of you guys bitching should sign up to go to boot camp. Come back and tell us all how weak it was.

Yes you would. They can only do two pull-ups.

I specifically remember the recruiters beating on my door because I was on probation. Wait, No recruiter ever called me. We were in a glut of enlisted men looking to pay for college with no war to fight when I was of age.

Did I miss that the draft was on in 1992?

No, I wasn't aware that it was a logistics base. I spent a majority of my time on Lejeune, 29 Palms, and OKI when I wasn't deployed.

Those may be the published requirements, but I can you for a fact that someone only doing 42 push-ups is not getting into BUD/S.

Those are simply the numbers you must have to qualify for combat jobs BEFORE you begin day 1 of boot camp. Honestly, those numbers are almost the same as boot camp entry in 1996, which is when I joined. You must progress at a certain rate during boot camp and be able to reach a much higher physical fitness score before graduating.

^ this.

I was a recruiter from 2011-2014 and our command wouldn't even ship kids unless the doubled the standard.

Pre-accession Initial Strength test was 3 Pull-ups, 44 crunches in 2 minutes and under 13:30 mile and half.

If our kids wernt doing 6 Pull-ups, 60 crunches and under 12 minutes within 90 days they'd get discharged from the delayed entry program.

How does that work? Are they tested locally before y'all send them to MEPS, so they fail, and thus are not sent, or do they go to MEPS, get sworn in, fail the test, then NOT go to regular boot camp/go to what used to be called a "Spartan" company/get sent home?

Just curious.

I know right away that I can meet all three of the requirements for men.

That absolutely means the test needs to be tougher.

I wasn't on probation. I watched all the kids on probation join to avoid jail. So noble.

Unless you're a runner you're full of shite. A mile and a half in under 8 minutes is damned strong running.

He's completely full of shite. Probably one of those guys who sits in the locker room bullshitting for 20 minutes, then heads for the pool where he knocks out a couple laps before hitting up the sauna for more bullshitting. Then 20 more minutes in the locker room before grabbing a power bar and a Gatorade on the way out.

An 8 minute 1.5 mile run is close to a 5 minute mile pace.

Artie,
I was recruiting in 1992, and you sir are full of shite. I couldn't have gotten a waiver for someone on probation.

No High School diploma, hope you have 15 credit hours in college and a GED. Otherwise they wouldn't have made it either. It's easy to sit and talk shite when you were never man enough to step on the yellow footprints.

If you can't do 2 pull-ups/44 crunches(under 2 minutes)/1330 mile and half you're not even supposed to be sworn in to the Delayed Entry Program.

Like I said our command would discharge kids after 90 days of the couldn't do 6 pull-ups/60 crunches/under 13 min run.

There are recruiting commands out there that would ship kids that do 2 pull-ups, and 44 crunches but if they fail the IST when they get to MCRD, then they will either be sent home or be in BCP, which means they will not start their training until they meet the standards.

It's funny how everyone thinks this isn't tough. The tough part is a week later when the recruits go from only doing the Initial Strength Test to the PFT. I can't remember what passing is for the crunches but it's a minimum of 3 pull-ups and they run a 3 mile. So kids that are used to only tuning a mile and a half are quickly brought up to Marine Corps standards within a week.

i don't see the problem. its open to everyone and most women can't do it.

Did anyone think most women were going to be able to be Marine infantry?
