Brands like Megabass, Sebile, etc which have some lures upwards of $30. Question is are these really worth the money or are there cheap options that do just the same.

The only high end lures I'll buy are topwater a like Yellow Magic poppers. I've never lost one and they work like nothing else. For crankbaits and jerkbait so, I wait for a big sale and buy a few like Pointers that are around $10.

I don't pay over 5$ if at all possible for lures and that would be for topwater only.
BTW, Rapala sucks for discontinuing my go to lure.

I have a good friend that started making bull shad swim baits about four years ago. He now has quit his day job and has workers healing keep up with demand. While a $100 fishing bait isn't my thing it seems many are willing to buy?

A $100 would buy lures, gas, beer, poo nanny and potted meat.

What kills me is the underground custom jointed swimbait market.

Those suckers go for $4-500 sometimes

Well, assuming fresh water? Why shouldn't they gouge people that have the need to put a 150HP motor on a 17' or less boat?

Are high end ice chest worth the price, do you really save enough ice for it to pay for itself? With both it boils down to whether you value the better quality components and craftsmanship enough to pay for it.

Yes they are definitely worth it. Now if only Yeti made lures then I would be in hog heaven!

3 rules to explain why you didn't catch fish:
1. Your bait wasn't in the water
2. You didn't spend enough money on gear
3. You didn't go far enough out

Senkos are pretty damn expensive, especially when you buy them at the gas station on the way. They are worth it.

I have a Yellow Magic. It was worth it the day I got out fished 4:1, I haven't caught enough to recover the cost yet.

I have a nephew that buys them all the time. And yes, he uses them. He targets only big fish. And yes, he does catch them and releases them all the time. Oh, he will drop 1K for a dam fishing rod in a heart beat. 35, single and no kids and makes bank.

uh no.

Fishing lures are made to catch 'fishermen', not fish. $30 for a lure? I guess there really are suckers in this world.

Never paid $30 for a lure, but I've paid $15-20. I've been tempted to break out some money and buy some of those custom Balsa squarebills that are out there but I haven't done it yet.

Whopper Plopper and a couple of Lucky Craft hard baits are the ones that I've bought that are high.
