At this point, Pap. Romero is in a mental slump and can't lay off of the low and away cheese at the plate. Maybe he needs Lasik.

Romero's offense has carried over to his defense. I absolutely love and appreciate what he has done to help LSU this season, but something is in his head right now that he can't seem to shake. Looking at the Lange/Puk matchup, I'm anticipating a close, low scoring game. The type of game where one defensive miscue could be the difference in the final score.
Romero has been the spark plug of the offense for some time, but I'm starting Pap in this one and have Romero waiting to be the pinch hit hero off the bench.

Romero can't field or hit a breaking ball. Give me pap at least for his defense

Huh? Paps is a switch hitter
I think he means Romero should do better vs. lefty since the ball will be moving in. Right handers are striking him out on 3-4 pitches right now.

Yall think there is a chance Romero is just a dead red hitter and pitchers have just adjusted. If that's the case he might never break out the slump because it's not really a slump just the reality that he can't hit breaking balls. Kinda like Quinn Stewart. Hit fastballs a mile, breaking balls not so
much.
much.

Pap, sorry seen enough of Romero. He has been a liability at the plate and behind the plate for the last few games for sure. He just looks lost and when you have other SEC fans posting this picture below that says it all!

You will need both of them to win this tournament. Can't have one guy catch 5 games in 6 days with the real season starting in a week. I think you alternate this week. Pap tonight Romero tomorrow etc. Next week you reevaluate and go from there.

Tenn 6 for 6 in stolen bases last night? Were they all on Romero or both guys?

Really none on Romero to be honest. Pretty much were all stolen on the pitchers, one on Freeman when he bobbled the ball and one on a turrible call by the second base ump on a missed over slide. That steal on Stallings was the most pathetic thing I have ever seen

there was one he short hopped to second that was definitely his fault.

Romero's biggest problem is every team has now figured him out. He can't hit anything but a fast ball.... Aka Cerrato from Major League.

If you look back at Romero's best hitting streak, he was hitting first pitch fast balls. He has been scouted just as Beau has and they are seeing a steady first pitch curve/slider out of the strike zone and setting up the 3rd strike slider in the dirt.
Romero has been lost for the past 2-3 weeks, especially behind the plate. I vote for a solid defensive catcher to catch Lange tonight.

I would have no problem with Romero sitting the rest of the tournament and then bringing him back for regional. His head is all over the place and until he can lay off fastballs away he isn't going to get any better at the plate. It is all mental he will work it out one way or another and get it straight.

I hate being the negative guy but the idea that he will breakout and figure it out isn't a given. He might not. Pitchers have adjusted and now its on him to adjust. Some canm, some can't. Here's to hoping he puts one in the cheap seats this week.

We need a catcher folks. they both haven't played worth a carp lately. So it didn't really matter who plays. Thats What a manager does

If we start Lange does anyone really want to see Romero try to block that spike curve ball in the dirt? If its Lange, it needs to be Pap.
