I get wanting something unique.

That is why I am drawn to Ball, they kind of do their own thing without copying others.

That's one of the more tasteful ROO's I've seen. Congrats. If I ever move over to AP, it'll be a 15202 with blue dial - a ROO would dwarf my wrist.

(I know that's a 15400 pictured, couldn't find a good 15202 shot)

Do they lose time behind them big rocks? (it's okay if you don't get that to )

Never been a fan of the style of AP or Panerai's. Most Patek Phillipes are too busy for me, too.

Give me IWC, Bell&Ross, Blancpain, A Lange&Sohn, Omega.

Anyone that doesn't like watches sucks.

I don't like many panerai's, but I have a base titanium model 176 that I absolutely love and has been my go to watch for 8 years.

AP's are very interesting and the style can be polarizing but I really like them.

The only brand I really don't like is breitling.

...or my favorite...it's a kinetic.

Guy who I work with (does very well) has a coke bezel submariner. He got it from his wife and he told me it was kinetic.

That being said, I am 31 now, I would love to have a Submariner on my 35th birthday to pass down one day.

My brother and I are trying to convince my dad to buy us all 3 matching sub's, no luck yet. He is on his 5th SKX007-ish.

Very nice. I really like the new 42mm ROO. Not as much a fan of the 44s for some reason. Trying to bring myself to part with the $$ for the new panda with the black face.

there have been some great suggestions in this thread. I personally have a tag my wife bought me a few years ago and I do like it, but if I had to do it again I would go Breitling. I am in love with the Breitling navitimer 01 Panamerican especially with the light brown leather band and black face. Screams class to me. It is within your budget too.

Good thread. I love watches. My particular favorite is Panerai. I have a Panerai 392 and 233. I also have a Rolex BLNR. Personally, I like a bigger face. Watches over the years have moved to a larger face. Panerai is one of the larger ones out there. If you are interested in a Panerai, I would look into a 1392 (out in August), which is 42mm. The 44mm watches can be big for someone not used to them. You could also pick up a used 392 (older model of 1392) which is also a 42mm for about $5K.

While I like Panerai more than Rolex, truth be told, Rolex is going to hold its value better down the road if that is something you are concerned with. I am not. Personally, I like the way Panerai look more so that is why I have more. If you want to go with Rolex, you can pick up a 1990's Submariner for about $5-$6k. A newer sub will set you back about $9k. For about the same price as a sub you could pick up a GMT Master II. Or, you could also pick up a Rolex Exploer II (2000's) for about $5k.

Check out Crown and caliber's website. They are reputable.

Unless you really like Breitling, I wouldn't waste my money one frankly. However, Cartier may be worth a look.

Jeezus H Gaston. I wear a bracelet or rubber in the summer and leather in the winter. This is how the big boys do it.

But you'll buy a Panerai. Arguably one of the goofiest looking watches on the planet.

What the hell is wrong with Breitling? They make some fine watches and are very very good quality. and no offense the Panerai you like is about as plain jane as can be and honestly looks like a watch that is worth less than 500.
