Going to Chicago for 3-4 days in July. The wife and I, and our 4 year old daughter. Going to a Cubs game, navy pier, but what are some other things we could do? Kid friendly things. I have been there before, but in high school and college. Thanks in advance.

Travel Board will be the most help. Search Chicago over there and you should find a bunch
We went last April and had a blast. Wrigley Field should be electric this year. Wish I could go back. I probably won't be the best help for suggestions regarding a kid, but you should definitely check out the aquarium, Field Museum, Millenium Park (the bean) and get some good Chicago deepdish. We had Giordano's and Gino's East. Both were excellent

One of my friends says his kids love the aquarium. I think the Field Museum right there is worth a spin, too.

The parks are fine, though on a crowded weekend (like a holiday) they're almost more trouble than they're worth.

Other people will claim Giordanos is shite compared to some of the others
But I think it is all delicious
Plus giordanos is arguably the most famous

Kid friendly things.
Museum of Science and Industry has a frickin U-Boat in the basement.
And even aside from that it's a must-see for a kid that can tolerate museums and stuff.

Buy the City Pass and see all the major stuff for about half of what you'd normally pay. Definitely do the Willis tower observation deck (Skydeck) . Field museum is fantastic, especially if you like dinosaurs - they have an incredible collection. Museum of science and industry is VERY kid friendly and VERY interactive. Shedd aquarium is nice, but pretty much like every other aquarium (Atlanta's is the only one that stands out for me). Adler planetarium is nice but more for the astro geeks. Millennium park/the bean is an obvious choice as well.
If I had to choose only one, Field Museum is my favorite. Great animal collection , including the Ghost and the Darkness (the two man-eating lions). Their dino collection is unreal though. S & I is great but 4 might be a little young - but what kid isn't enthralled by dinosaurs (including Sue, the most complete T-rex skeleton).

I'm guessing the people that make comments like this have never actually been to chicago, as the crime ridden areas are pretty well removed from the heart of the city, which is where all the desirable tourist attractions are

Get one of the tourist passes that has admission to the aquarium, field, Sears tower and science and industry.
Also Google Chicago festival schedule. There are tons of great street fests every weekend in summer. Could be a lot of fun.

I mean the Shedd Aquarium is nice, but if you're going for a few days, I wouldn't put it on my list. It's entirely indoors, has nothing to do with Chicago itself, and any Sea World is ten times better. Plus it's pricey as hell for what you get. Top of the John Hancock building is nice, I personally slightly prefer it to the top of Willis and it's less crowded because tourists flock to the "taller" one.

My wife and I just got back from Chicago yesterday. Our trips often revolve around food, but as far as family-friendly activities, in addition to a game, you can also take a tour of Wrigley, ton of history there. $25 per person.
We did a round of the old school Chicago style pizzerias with the exception of Uno. Giordano's, Gino's East, Lou Malnati's. Didn't care for Lou Malnati's crust.
Don't forget to get your self some Garrett's popcorn. The caramel crisp is where it's at.
We also took an architectural boat tour. Gave me a whole new perspective on the buildings. It was interesting, but I gotta say that I thought it would be more interesting than it was.
