Probably reaching here and I'm sure he may need it in the Finals, but can it almost be argued that lebron inexplicably losing his jumpshot as bad as he has has turned out to be a positive thing?

lebron losing his jumpshooting (out to 3) is one of those "what the frick?" things in basketball

Yes, he took way too many threes in the past. Even at his best jump shooting, he was still letting the defense of the hook too often.

i think the steady decline of his jumper is part of the reason people don't like him.

Maybe it is because he is the player I watch the most in the NBA, but there are definitely a few inexplicable things in his game. I mentioned in the game thread that his FT shooting, while not awful, has cost him 700+ points or so in his career. He's a 75% shooter and he's shot 10,000 free throws. 82% isn't a ridiculous request and would be 700 more makes.

Yep. Basketball is so consistent, this just doesn't happen.

But back to my OP, it seems like losing the jumpshot is forcing him to go right to the rim almost every trip down the court, and that's a good thing.

Seems like he's a bit bulkier and not as fluid.

looking at his shot chart he's only really been bad between 3'-10'. He's about at his career average, & better in some instances, from 10'-3pt distance.

He's definitely been more aggressive in these playoffs, at least to my eye.

I mean wasn't he like 9-9 at one point Tuesday? That only happens in the paint.

If Kevin Love wasn't on the Cavs, I'd think he was bulking up to make the permanent move to the 4.

I think so too. At least, he's not as frequently settling for a shot when he had a chance to drive.

Nearly cost the team a sweep 2 weeks ago.

Not to take this thread in an awful direction, but I don't think it is a stretch to say that Simmons can have the type of game that LeBron is having right now. Facilitating with wicked passes, grabbing boards, and scoring in transition and in the paint. His jump shot is way worse than LeBron's, but their style isn't too far off.

This is what makes this thread humorous. Previously people were mad that he was settling for jump shots, this post season he's doing exactly what the people wanted him to do and he's still catching hate.

LeBron's end of career position will be the 4, if he accepts that. He is unstoppable at the 4, but he wants to run the damn point and dominate/distribute the ball.
