He should have followed McDonough to MNF so we aren't stuck with Gruden anymore.

Hey ESPN, it's time to extend the olive branch to Ron Franklin and Mike Gottfried. This has gone on long enough.

He can't be any older than Musberger or Patrick.

Yeah, hire Franklin back. I always enjoy watching him call female colleagues "toots" or "baby girl" and pat them on the arse for a job well done.

Let's get real.

He's older than Patrick and Musberger only talks about women in the stands so they don't hear it and get him fired.

Then put Marty Smith or Quint Kessinich on the sideline for the broadcasts. He would be far better than Anish Schroff and Dan Hawkins or whatever other "C" team that tries to fill the void.

He retired from fulltime every Sunday work when he was younger than Franklin is now.

I'm really interested to see ESPN's broadcast pairings this year. They have a lot of holes to fill.

They're gonna promote Pam Ward and Beth Mowens to prime time games.

I was just thinking the same thing. Do people actually believe this guy will be missed?

I am truly surprised that some rantard has not randomly mentioned Jemele Hill as a replacement yet.

How many guys have left ESPN yo Fox?

They all had a similar job at ESPN and that was covering football. Maybe Fox is luring them away with bigger deals and starting to create better and more coverage around football to gain more viewers.

Just a thought. Not too outlandish.

Oh yeah. It's gonna be really tough for ESPN to find retired NFL players to fill these spots

All those tens of billions for broadcasting acquisitions add up over the years, don't they?

Now they can't pay 7 figure salaries on the Reg anymore

ETA: read OP as Chris Berman doubt Spielman made 7 figures, but Bayless, etc did so point remains
