He's been pretty livid today about a video he posted to his twitter:

Concerned Father Finds Out High School Coach Was Hiding College Letters

quote:

High School coaches, this has to stop. It's bigger than you! The nerve of some to question motives of others.

quote:

I am livid right now and it's time to take action. Too many coaches acting as an inhibitor to the recruitment of their kids. I'm sick of it.

quote:

Throw stones at me if you want to. I'm used to it, but it will not slow me down or stop me. Mark my words, this will change.

quote:

Story: I send 3 schools to view a kid with 1 offer. All 3 schools were blocked from the kid. Really? Should be ashamed of yourself. Everyday

quote:

Beware: I know a lot of your secrets and exposing you guys won't be an issue for me. This will change and our coalition will make sure of it

quote:

Just happened: SEC school visits a HS, head coach gives zero names, makes zero introductions, shared no info. Happens every day. Sad

I saw that on his twitter line.

I never understood why high school coaches hid letters from kids. That shite has been going on for years.

If Bama was one of them...I have no problem with this.

Is this legit, the video?

Why are letters being sent to the coach, and not the player?

Is that a normal thing?

Hey, he's passionate and stands up for something greater than himself. Good for him. This is his area of expertise. So I won't question it.

At first I felt like this was some really random incident.. but seems like it happens often.

I couldn't understand what motive or why a coach would do this.. but there's always some sort of strange reasoning (in another person's head) Perhaps not to let the kids get a big head.. perhaps just more control type of situation..

I don't think it's right to hold out on the players.. this is about their future and if they want to start weighing their options.. they shouldn't have a coach hold out on them the info because he believe it's right.

Can coaches reach out to kids directly, or must they go through the coach?

So recruiting letters go to the school and not the kids house

That's absolutely repugnant, and in another field would be considered malpractice. Hurting the future of 17 year olds for crying out loud.

I do not know how any of this works BUT

If i was a coach, I would have the Kid and His legal guardians sign permission to release his address to colleges who request it.

I would not want to be a go between. Its not part of the job.

This tells me that some HS coaches might/must be on the take.

Certainly Colleges know the possible influence a HS coach may have........why would they keep going thru the corches and just send it directly to the players home?

And how did the Dad in the video "Stumble across a box of letters in a coaches class room"?

Maybe I'm old school, but I don't think a journalist should be playing an active role in recruitments anyway. I believe Jimmy has good intentions, but all his involvement in Louisiana high school football is a conflict of interest to his journalistic duty IMO.

Not saying this doesn't happen, but if that coach in the video was really keeping all those schollarship letters from the kid, why wouldn't he just throw them away instead of keeping them in a huge arse box for anyone who just so happens to go visit the school to come across??
