Honestly, looking around my gym. The most fit (lowest bf%) men are all over 35 and married with kids. Some workout super early, at lunch, or after kids are put down. But they all apparently get it done

right, which what I think the real problem is, especially for the average person that is trying to get in shape
just so much misinformation out there that they try things that are supposed to work, that fails, they get discouraged, and fall back into whatever they were doing before
This we can agree upon and its what I touched on in my first post in this thread. People have no clue about fitness or diet. Its really sad.

I don't think the working out is obsessive, I think counting macros and shite is though
To a certain extent you are 100% right. I tend to fall in line that for the average american they would be much better off concentrating on improving the quality of there food. Thats where a paleo style diet 90% of the time would do wonders for 95% of the population.
But I will say it literally takes me less than 5 min a day to enter my food into myfitnesspal and a max of another 5 mins to read labels to decide what to eat. I personally bring my lunch 95% of the time because it keeps me from making bad choices and I usually cook my weekly dinners on sunday. My wife changes her mind every 5 seconds along with my kids so I usually cooks theirs on a nightly basis so its easier to have all my meals precooked. Because of this its easy to track macros.
but many people have success just logging and filling their macros in with whatever is around just staying with 10% or so on all of them. allows them to eat ice cream if they want or some other dessert or whatever they damn well please.
and you are not going to out work a bad diet. so for many they need to count macros at least until they get a better understanding of food. Same goes for weighing. Most have no idea how much a serving size is. ask them how much is 4oz of meat and they are clueless.

I never said this
sorry I thought you did. so many in here have. but you did allude to measuring biceps being weird. I can understand that point but the easiest way to ensure progress is to track every detail. I understand for most this is way to much.
The engineer in me makes me track every detail so I can isolate problems and find solutions to sticking points.

You are 42 with no kids. That's an issue for you to work out while wondering why a guy like me, younger and fatter, is happy in my skin with a couple kids that adore me and a wife that still sucks my dong.

I'm telling you that is bullshite and ill come coach your kids game at 8% when i have my own life and fam
good luck
before I had a wife and kids, I was probably somewhere close in the 8% - 10% range (I have actual no idea)
I was 6'2" around 170, had the 6 pack, etc...it came easy with a just a little effort
add wife...got a little more difficult, but still pretty easy to maintain
add kid...now, for me, too fricking hard to maintain that, call me lazy or whatever
I'll stick with my 4 pack and either my early morning runs and circuit training in my garage while my daughter runs around screaming "Daddy watch this!" or "Daddy I need a snack" or "Daddy I need to go potty"
We eat better now to help with the lack of working out, but I still stand by the "I'll shoot myself before counting macros/calories" thought

A couple deciding they do not want children is an issue?

Seriously wtf is your deal? Mouton has posted pics and he certainly has gotten to 8%.
Why are you being a little bitch because you were wrong? Just suck it up buttercup, we are all wrong sometimes.

exactly how I feel. Honestly though it can be done in as little as 3 to 4 hours a week. Not gonna happen overnight though.
4 hours a week is less than the average american watches tv for in a damn day.
This is the reason so many struggle with it and call it impossible.
Hell I've struggled with this as well. I don't gain muscle overly fast. I have incredibly lean genetics, but gaining size is very tough for me. For years I'd lift for a couple months then quit and call it impossible. About 4 years ago, though, I fully committed, found a program I love (Wendler 531 ), and I'm moving more weight than I ever have. I've busted through previously "impossible" plateaus, but it took a looooong time.
You see it with young kids nowadays expecting to buy their dream home by 32. My parents always laugh at me and tell us we don't know wtf we're talking about. They point out pics from when I was young, and are like "dude we were struggling for years, we only made money late in life". Sure there are the unique folks who make it big in some tech venture, but the majority of us won't make any real money until we've worked for a looooong time.
Getting in shape is the exact same thing.

I will actually. maybe walk the park with my 4yr daughter later. cook dinner for the fam. But wait how will i ever accomplish all that?!

The fatal flaw in your post is that you think I need an amazing body to be happy. Amazing body? That's pretty gay. If I'm happy with myself why does that bother you?

You want me to go back to the thread where you argued with me for 8 pages before admitting I was right the whole time?
