It's doable, so it's clearly laziness.

I'm not shitting on anyone. You do you. Just don't pretend 8% body fat is a reasonable walk around mass for a 40 year old with a real job and family life. For the record, none of you guys accomplish this.

SO don't tell me 8% bf is unobtainable. hell you could get there in a year with 3 days a week of really progressive overload lifting, a strict arse diet combined with Intermittent fasting. When I say strict diet I mean a balanced 40/30/30 diet.

bingo.

but life is about compromises.

I like beer. When I want to get to 8% for summer, it means i have to fricking run in the evenings and lift in the mornings.

The reality of the situation is that what you said is correct. people dont want to work, or dont know what hard work really is...

reasonable

this is really whole point of contention

what does that even mean. EASY? its not easy bc it involves a frickton of disciple. it is "reasonably obtainable" in the sense that nearly every single person can achieve this without any steroids.

My question is really about the need for the compromise. If you aren't competing, and you certainly aren't a model, what's the point of getting to 8% for the summer?

I can tell you i personally do everything for a sense of accomplishment and pride. Do you not set goals and create a path to achieve them? Not to be boastful and vain but bc it makes you feel good?

I'm telling you as a 40 year old with a real job and kids, you aren't walking around at 8% if you volunteer to coach or go to your kids practices. These are all choices. My wife prefers me to be involved than to have 8% body fat.

and I am telling you, your wrong. I volunteer on top of work 50 hours a week. I coach my sons tball team, I bring them to every practice for other things like gymnastics and karate and spend an arse load of time with them.

here is an example of a typical day for me

5am-wake and an 45min of cardio on my airdyne bike while watching sportscenter.

5:45-6:45- shower, get dressed, gets kids breakfast ready, make sure bottles for infant are ready, get all 3 kids dressed and into the car.

6:45- my wife and I roll out. She takes to youngest to day care, I bring oldest to his grandmother's who teachs at his school and brings him.

7:15- at work, staying fasted.

12-take lunch break if I feel like doing more cardio. Usually just go to the Planet Fitness near work and do 30 min or so. If not or I am busy(rare right now) I just work through lunch.

1-back at work

2:15ish break fast with first meal

5-5:30-commute home.

5:30- go home and cook for kids and wife if we do not have a game or practice that night.

6ish- play with kids/spend time with wife

720ish- I get two older in tub while wife watches baby

7:45- get older kids in bed for the night and get baby down in his bed. This usually take 15 to 20 min. Wife goes in gets in bath tub

815 or so I head into the garage to lift or more cardio unless the wife is wanting to spend time together

10-shower and head to bed. always asleep by 11:15.

I am the one that gets up in the night to get the baby or help the older kids. 100% of the time. same goes for the morning routine.

as far as real job, I am a civil engineer/senior project manager for the number one specialty concrete contractor in the world and manage our largest maintenance contract and the facility and have am responsible at all times for at least 12 employees and all branch financials/account.

So I would say I have a real job and meet all your other requirements and yet still find tons of time to workout.

btw I don't really watch tv during the week. just don't except during cardio. Other exception being if my wife wants to watch a movie together.

SOOOOO......

By the way that pic of Efron was taken on the set of Baywatch on Tybee Island about ten minutes from my house.
