Is the Treadwell love gone?

I remember people wanting him bad on this board. I myself was one of them.
Big 6'3" receiver that could develope into a #1. Cooks is not a #1. I really like him but he's not a #1. Treadwell could be.
I know he didn't time the fastest in his 40 but who really cares? I thought we were drafting football players, not track guys. Treadwell can get separation, pick up the first down when you really need it. He replaces Colston which I don't think a lot of people understand. We're an offensive team, and we just lost Colston and Watson. Hopefully Fleener can pick up the slack but you still need a go to receiver. I don't think Coleman is the answer.
You know who else is also 6'3" with a similar skill set?
Julio jones.
1. Treadwell
2. Alexander from Clemson
3. DT
4. Oline etc..
What say you?

I think the acquisition of Fleener changed the glaring need.
And Cooks sure came on like a #1 at the end of last season. He was very impressive
I'd put G, DT, DE/Pass Rusher all well above WR as a need

Julio is a complete and total athletic freak, while I like treadwell, he is not. Alshon is probably a better comparison, but I think he even ran a sub 4.5 coming out.
If you lack speed, you better run stellar routes. Not sure Treadwell does that....at least not yet.

I mean they are similar in size, but Julio is way faster, can jump way higher, and is a complete freak of an athlete.
If you take out all the athletic advantages that make Julio elite, then I guess they are similar

We need DL, CB, OG, WR.
On the need o meter I'd say WR is on the low end. If some crazy value pick at WR comes our way then maybe, but no way in the 1st round.

Still want Treadwell and think he should be the pick.
This offense doesn't lack speed, it lacks physicality. There's no confidence in our receivers ability to win 1 on 1 outside when the defender is in their grill. Treadwell fixes that.

I've been watching the show on ESPN following some of the draft picks, Treadwell being one of them. I didn't realize he did so poorly on pretty much everything, but catching the ball in the combine/pro day.
I still think he'll be good, but I think there is potential value at WR later in the draft. Please make our defense less shitty first.

I love Treadwell.
But I hate him at our 12th pick.

I don't think you've seen either of those players play.

I'm still hoping we get him, and wouldn't mind either 12 or trading back a bit and getting him. A few reasons:
1. Backfill Colston
2. Very deep D draft
3. The days of Brees making any receiver look good are coming to an end sooner than later.

With an at best average receiving core Brees once again led a top 5 offense. The needs are on the defensive side of the ball. The offense would benefit more from getting good field position unlike last year when it seemed we were always getting the ball on our own 20

it's my belief that this is a cycle that is repeated every year
teams, fans, scouts, GMs, etc fall in love with players at the start of the draft period.. then the players get talked about so much that they get put on the back burner as we run out of things to discuss and new, unheard of (or just less talked about) prospects emerge and the original targets are forgetten only to be selected in the slots they were initially slotted to be drafted in..
I would not be shocked at all if Treadwell goes in the top 15... I also would not bitch and moan if the saints picked him at 12...
ETA: just look at this thread and the things being discussed in it... it's almost ridiculous.. people get caught up in too many measureables and forget about one thing: can the guy play football at a HIGH level??? that's all that matters
I say yes

Personally, I like the TCU receiver better.
