Brad Nessler has left ESPN for CBS and will eventually replace the network's SEC play-by-play broadcaster Verne Lundquist, according to a tweet from Foxsports.com's Clay Travis.
Nessler, 59, will do NFL games for CBS until taking over for Lundquist, 75, who has called SEC games since 2000.
Nessler has been calling college games for ESPN since 1997 and was with the network since 1992.

Mcdonough getting MNF makes more sense now
as much as ol Verne annoys me, it will be weird to watch a CBS game without hearing him

Yep, but this is such an upgrade. Home run for CBS.

Not exactly a subtle hint to Ol' Verne from CBS

Verne has looked less and less healthy over the years. Like he looks really bloated now.

Drinking an entire 5th of scotch every time a camera turns on near you for 40 years will do that.

Wonder who gets Nessler's spot at ESPN?

I dig it. Love Verne but he needs to go soon so I am glad there is light at the end of the tunnel. Nessler and GD could be great together

Just noticed this was posted in rummy's thread yesterday, but not sure a lot of people saw it.

Nessler and Danielson will be the best booth in all of college or professional football.

Nessler is a pro's pro. About the best there is right now.

Danielson can be replaced IMHO. Blackledge was in the booth with Verne before going to ESPN. Bring him back.

I'll miss Verne, but Brad Nessler is awesome, one of the best if you ask me.

They're getting the band back together...Nessler and Danielson did ESPN Thursday night games in the 90s and were great then.

My guess would be Dave Pasch

I wonder if Vern's biased views will be passed along?
About time that fat frick will be off the air though, I would rather listen to Stephen Hawking call the games.
