When the new releases hit, I think we are about $125 drop in stagg and wlw due to increased supply, then it starts creeping up again

Antique - I have been doing that with a store here in Houston but they already have so many people that are higher on the list than I...... I buy all of my wife's wine from them to help out as well.
She did sell me a Midwinters night dram for regular price but I can't seem to get any of the other stuff.
I also don't want to buy on the secondary market because I can't justify the price.
Talking with some guys in Austin they said that New Orleans area gets more of the good stuff than they do so I was hoping that any one on here might be able to help out.
Thanks to all that replied

Don’t set your bourbon goals high, you will either be disappointed or go broke from secondary market. Go to tastings, find what you like, and go from there.
plenty of great stuff on the shelf
WT Rare Breed
Old Forester various (1920 is my fave)
Four Roses SiB
McKenna 10 (sometimes on shelf)
etc

My best advice, if you see a store pick, get it. One of my favorite buys last year (I bought three) was a store pick of Buffalo Trace by Alexander’s Market here in BR. The bottle was $19, and compared to some of the high dollar bourbons I have.
You best bet is go to Pappy raffles. Even if you don’t win anything, you get to taste many different things and just fun. Calandro’s is always a day or two around my anniversary, so we do that, then go to dinner. In the 6 years I’ve been going to raffles, I’ve won a bottle of Pappy 20, GTS, MWND, and a bourbon/wine pairing catered party for 10 people
BTW, that MWND is damn good. I’m getting a bottle of Act 7 when it comes out. My liquor store will hold me a bottle.

Idea for a bourbon tasting. Some of you guys that get together for bourbon tastings should put together a blind test of a bourbon from each southern state excluding Kentucky and Tennessee. Have some offerings from Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida.
Be interesting to see who would come out on top.

If you are in Texas, you need to search at home for W12 and OWA107. Texas gets a disproportionate share of those two. Smaller stores, not Specs. Catch the raffles at Total Wine. NASA Road liquors.

HC that sounds like a good idea!

Icansee4miles -
I quit doing the specs thing and have actually been to the NASA store and bought a barrel pick from them but its about 35 miles from my house so its hard to build any relationship. I have recently started going to Tony K’s here by my house so hopefully the owner will recognize my efforts.

Actually I finally got a reply from WINTERSMITHS a cpl days ago. Looks like I can get around 20-30% off depending how many I order. Just haven't posted that here yet lol.
Or you talking about the clear ones to show CAD what they should look like when done the right way...cuz I forgot to make them
I'll try to remember to do that tonight...
And depending how you want to get...you cant get your custom username/logo on a stamp for your ice.

For the sake of the reputation of the great state of Louisiana, can LA1 be barred from such tastings.
