Not bad LC. Pretty smooth with a honey/caramel sweet taste up front and some slight spice(cinnamon)/oak burn on the end. Got the bottle for $39 after my discounts (Specs card/cash pay). Heard it reminds people of ER 10, but I haven't had the privilege of a pour of that one.

but Joe said he likes Noah's Mill SmB 15 better. Any thoughts on that?
Noah's Mill is a bourbon that people can't seem to agree on. I think it is a quality control issue. I've had three bottles of it in the past. The first was so good that when it ran out, I immediately bought another. The second one was awful. I decided to give it another chance and the third was just ok. Very inconsistent in my opinion.
You aren't going to find the 15 year anymore. If you do, buy it. It lost it's age statement a few years back and that is when I think the consistency issue started.

That Blantons gold is soooo good.

The official SMS first annual bourbon bracket has concluded. I will be providing the results over the next few days/week.
Let me remind everyone of the rules:
Each selection had to be bourbon <$100 aftermarket
Each selection was given a number ahead of the bracket. All I was given by Mrs. SMS was the 2 numbers that were competing. I didn't receive the names until the end.
Games were played head-to-head with the scoring below.
Taste: The intensity of the taste. 40 pts possible
Finish: The quality of the finish. 30 pts possible
Complexity: How complex was the flavor: 20 pts possible
Nose: Different aromas. 10 pts possible.
Sweet 16 North Bracket:
Old Scout 7: 63
Taste (40):30
Finish (30):15
Complexity(20):12
Nose (10):6
Bowman Brothers: 60
Taste (40):28
Finish (30):14
Complexity(20): 13
Nose (10):5
I seem to have a complete love for all thing SAOS and this seems to be showing it. Ironically SAOS 7 beat Bowman Brothers that beat SAOS 10 in the last round.
John J. Bowman: 64
Taste (40):31
Finish (30):16
Complexity(20):13
Nose (10):4
Savannah: 61
Taste (40):28
Finish (30):17
Complexity(20):12
Nose (10):4

Any opinions on the Knob Creek 2001?

Pass from everything I've read. Find a KC barrel pick for 1/3 the price.

It's good. Just not $100 good. IMO.

What Unc said. Everything I've heard is batch 1 is the best, but when the KC single barrel is such great value there's no reason to pay that much. If you want something really oaky just hit that McKenna 10.

Barrel proof sums up this week perfectly.

Anyone tried shipping Blanton's Gold or SFTB from across borders?
Posted on 7/14/16 at 7:54 pm to Uncle JackD
Spoils from the first hunt. Got the last ER on shelf. Lucky. Got a bottle of EHT SB at will call I'm picking up tomorrow. EHT is tough to find. Went looking for SAOS, WLW 12, and Blantons. No luck.
1PD couldn't wait until the weekend. Man this is good. All I can hear is Hank Jr singing "old Elijah..."

All these years I thought he was singing Kaw-Liga.
I believe Ole Hank favored Jim Beam and Early Times.

Was wondering if anyone here would catch that or not...right now it's a sweet old Elijah.

If you are ordering from Master of Malt it usually actually ships from Connecticut or New York. Not sure how they get around all of that legally.

I have a feeling this weekend is going to be a blur.

Congrats Purp! I was just coming to ask what impact does the type of glass make. Have seen a few different ones preferred by the crew here. The glencairn glass and others. Birthday coming up and I'm asking for a set of new bourbon glasses. TIA!
