I'm pretty new to this as well so I'll share some of my experience in figuring out what I like. Here are a few bourbons to grow you collection with fast.

~$30 bottles or less you will not be disappointed by IMO
1. Wild Turkey 101
2. Old Grand Dad BIB
3. Knob Creek
4. Henry McKenna 10yr
5. Eagle Rare
6. 4 Roses Small Batch

Check out Breaking Bourbon , they have some pretty good info for newbies. Also the r/Bourbon Redditt page has some good stuff on the side bar and tons of reviews.

My best advice is to learn to make some bourbon cocktails that your wife enjoys.......that way she doesn't bitch as much when you bring home a new bottle every week

All the people saying the '15 was a big disappointment over '14 were spot on.

That is unfortunate because the spring and fall 2014 M10 was some of my favorite whiskey. I did not get any 2015s so I can't pass judgment on the difference in quality

Guys, I'm planning to put a few bottles up on the trading block soon. I've got a pretty good handle on the value of two of the bottles, but I have no clue on the third one. I've got a bottle of The Classic 90 Old Charter (12 year). I see people selling bottles of the 8 and 10 year all the time but never the 12. Any idea what this could move for?

I looked at a couple of facebook groups and only saw one mention of a bottle for trade as part of a larger group, so no help there...

I could only guess. The 13 yr proprietor's reserve goes for $250-300 so I'd think $200-225 for a 750 Classic 90 12 would be reasonable?

EDIT: I found one that sold back in Feb for $165 including shipping.

I wonder if we will get any Yippee Ki-Yay in BR. I wouldn't mind having a bottle to try.

I'm just itching to get to my store this week and pick up some new bottles to try. That ECBP 10 is one for sure. Fingers crossed. Maybe add an EHT, Blantons, and ER to the list. Maybe Weller 12 or another 4R selection. Maybe maybe maybe...so many good selections, so tight of a budget. I'm running out of pantry space too. Need a cabinet for the collection that is about to be unleashed. Any suggestions out there?

I have found that old hutches that would have originally be used to hold plates etc work great. They have displays on top and drawers/cabinets on the bottom for storage. If you are on a budget they are on craigslist all the time.

I have also used this the Five Shelf Bookcase in Abbey Oak Finish available on Amazon. The shelves separate enough to hold most liquor bottles and the taller bottles go on top. I have 2 of them and they work great.

I have also used the Convenience Concepts Designs2Go Midnight Classic 3-Shelf Glass Bookcase, Black Glass available on Amazon. Smaller storage capabilities but a sleeker more modern design.

BTW: There are at least a dozen people on this board that will buy as many Weller 12s as you can find. Including me.

Good Luck..

This is the cabinet that I went with. At first I was looking at something much cheaper from World Market but then I realized that I have single bottles that would cost more than the cabinet. The brand is Howard Miller and I purchased it at Olinde's in Baton Rouge

First time trying Walking Stick SB. Highly recommended from Bourbon Joe at my store. Bought a bottle of ECBP 12 also. Saving it for the weekend.

Nice cabinet JF. VERY nice stash!!! Holy Bourbon Batman!!!

As for the WLW 12, guys I'm sure I'll be surprised at what's hard to find and what's not. I've only been at this since May. My store didn't have any and haven't for awhile Joe said. Neither any EHT which is what I was on the hunt for the most, but Joe said he likes Noah's Mill SmB 15 better. Any thoughts on that?

Trying another store tomorrow that I know has a much larger selection. Fingers crossed.

What'd you think of the walking stick? I haven't really ever heard anything about it one way or another.
