You get a chance to say goodbye
Not everyone, myself included, gets that chance

quote:I have lost my father (melanoma) and brother (pancreatic) to cancer. It was soul crushing but you so what you have to do for them. You put on a brave face and smile at them.
how in the hell will I find the strength for that? does it just come natural at the end?
I know a lot of people don't believe in essential oils, but I wish I would've known about them when my dad and brother were sick. Frankencense oil blended with some fractionated coconut oil rubbed into the soles of the feet are said to have healing properties.
Besides that, just pray and tell him you love him. Many of us on here have been where you are.

Deeply sorry to hear. There won't be much you can find positive in. Maybe take this time as at least some warning of your Dad' passing and live with him while he still has some of those. Live it to the fullest and try and be glad you had some type of notice rather than his just being gone from your life right this minute.

Hey look Im gonna sound like a nutjob but take this for what its worth. A close family friend of ours had cancer to the point where they told her there is nothing she could do. She had kids, a husband and was a former nurse. She refused to die, she began a strict regimine of enzymes before every meal, juicing hardcore, and shes alive 10 years later.I know people dont believe in that kinda stuff but I am someone who juices once or twice a day and you wont believe the benefits of carrots, beets, ginger, celery in the battle against not just cancer but disease in general. I know it sounds gross but I have a juice daily with 5 carrots,1 beet, small piece of ginger, 1 green apple,1 celery, and a cucumber and i really havent been sick in years knock on wood and I didnt mention but it actually tastes good.

God does not think small like men. For all you know this man is saved already and being called home, or this is the eye opening now or never moment that he needed. This is a time of love and confusion for their family. God willing, he will find peace.

I miss him alot.
I did also. 3 days before. There isn't much you can do. And it does suck to watch them go but we all go through it at some point.

Prayers to you and your family. As a survivor, I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy.....

not surprised at all
but folks go crazy when they hear cancer
and they'll decide with whatever they're comfy with
I read about a lady doctor who beat breast cancer the same way, so this is no surprise to me
I always advocate that type therapy, but FEAR is the big dictator
that's an interesting website, chrisbeatcancer dot com
did you know, prior to chemotherapy, that the Rockefellers sold kerosene as a cancer therapy?! no joke !!!
do a search for cancer comma kerosene and read

Also when it's time for hospice Carpenter house is wonderful. I refuse to sit in his chair at their house. It's his chair and I will likely never sit in his chair because I am not half the man he was.

Keep the faith! It'll be crappy but see it for what it is and help make him feel loved as much as possible. My mom and wife both succumbed to cancer....

boost his immune system
Best way to do this is via diet
High healthy fat (high omega 3/low omega 6), moderate protein, low carb, low inflammatory diet (bordering on ketogenic diet)
Caveat about your link: the producers of that content are only interviewing the survivors who tried these options, not those who tried the same therapy and died (survivorship bias). This is coming from someone who is very open minded on using complementary therapies as adjuncts to conventional therapy
LINK
Caveat: there is little/no data on this being of benefit for prostate cancer (along with the other complementary therapies recommended). Risk/benefit ratio analysis is up to each individual...

Ketogenic diets as an adjuvant cancer therapy: History and potential mechanism
Cancer cells, relative to normal cells, demonstrate significant alterations in metabolism that are proposed to result in increased steady-state levels of mitochondrial-derived reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as O2 and H2O2. It has also been proposed that cancer cells increase glucose and hydroperoxide metabolism to compensate for increased levels of ROS. Given this theoretical construct, it is reasonable to propose that forcing cancer cells to use mitochondrial oxidative metabolism by feeding ketogenic diets that are high in fats and low in glucose and other carbohydrates, would selectively cause metabolic oxidative stress in cancer versus normal cells. Increased metabolic oxidative stress in cancer cells would in turn be predicted to selectively sensitize cancer cells to conventional radiation and chemotherapies. This review summarizes the evidence supporting the hypothesis that ketogenic diets may be safely used as an adjuvant therapy to conventional radiation and chemotherapies and discusses the proposed mechanisms by which ketogenic diets may enhance cancer cell therapeutic responses.

I was replying to the douchebag that said to get right with god. Thats a stupid thing to tell someone. I had cancer myself. Im not stupid enough to think it was prayer that beat it.
My wife is physician she has prayed for a lot of patients, maybe your doctors did too.

My uncle has the same situation. Spread to his spine. Diagnosed him 4 years ago and gave him 2 years at the time. So don't give up hope. He still does most everything he wants to.
