I haven't looked at all the pages on this thread but what about:
Mike Zimmer- Current Def. Cord. for Atlanta Falcons
Previous Def Cord for Dallas Cowboys- might have a connection when Les was in Dallas ?

nce again, LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY and the SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE are not places for ON THE JOB TRAINING! NO demonstrated and successful experience as a DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR, then you AINT gonna be employed. It's amazing to me how some of you dolts actually think that some of the names being thrown around out there are really qualified candidates. The days of L.S.U. having to settle for an unproven coach are long gone....

It sure was horrendous strategy by:

Ohio St
UGA
Oklahoma
The Steelers

This "we must have a HC with college, HC experience in a BCS conference" idea is so lame. Same principle goes for "we must have a DC with DC experience."

Muschamp had no DC experience when he got here. Fisher had no OC experience at a decent school when he got here and he is the best OC in the school's history.

Karl is a good coach, but he wants to run the show. And....he is not that good. Wouldn't work. Last few jobs that he had ended badly. Nicholls, and LSU are the most recent.

2. Will Muschamp - Auburn, defensive coordinator

No way. A lateral career move for a young, energetic DC with head coach potential. I don't see Muschamp leaving AU for anything less than a head coach position. Although I'd love to see him in Purple and Gold again.

Herring might be the best fit for LSU. He knows the SEC, and he develops talent pretty well.

Rumors, I know, but interesting nonetheless. Word on the Miami boards is that Tenuta is heading to LSU, and the Cane fans are happy to hear that he's leaving the ACC. So even if it's rumor it's pretty interesting to hear what rival fans of GT have to say about a potentional DC for LSU. Must mean he's pretty good.

Examiner.com, Des Moines Iowa says: "When asked about Tenuta's reputation after LSU won the Southeastern Conference championship on Saturday at the Georgia Dome, Tigers coach Les Miles indicated he wouldn't hesitate to ask Radakovich for permission."

Why in the world would he leave to take a job that he already had 3 years ago. Coaches move forward, not backwards. There is no way in hell, Muschamp is coming to LSU right now.

Tenuta is on the hook. Solid gentleman's agreement between Pelini and Miles, at least get through Christmas, maybe even after the bowl game, but Tenuta gets named at a very opportune tme

Two years of seasoning for Mallory and a defensive oracle for LSU over the next two years.

With the 2008 offense shaping up to be one of the best D1 (save RP 11 meltdown), just running JT's schme alone will win ball games and accelerate our squad in the SEC next year.
