How about the PITT D-coordinator?

Dunbar seems to be an NFL guy, when he came a couple of years ago it was pretty much known that he would put in a little time then get promoted when Pelini took a head coaching gig. After one year he went back to the league.

I can't find any links now, but from what I remember he needed some more time served in the NFL to be vested in the pension plan, but I think he only needed a year or two so he may be good by now.

Good call, I've brought his name up before.

Should be #1 choice imo.

That was the story, but that being the case I could never figure out why he left the NFL in the first place to come here.

What about Frank Spaziani, the BC DC?

Checking out the stats shows that BC is tops in the nation against the run (only 875 yards allowed during the regular season), 31st nationally against the pass, 5th in interceptions with 21, 27 sacks on the season.

Not bad with what he's had to work with.

Dunbar has had a stout defense? Where?

If you're commenting on the fact that he's never been a DC, I see your point. If you're speaking of his inability to coach, I suggest you take note of the following:

Chicago Bears D-Line coach, LSU D-Line coach, Minnesota D-Line coach.

Can't argue with those results. Plus, I think he was the best recruiter on the LSU staff while he was here.

I know he doesn't have DC experience, but that's the only drawback for me. He's proven solid in all other aspects of coaching duties.

Wake Forest DC Dean Hood

LINK

Gets more out of less talent than any DC in the country.

Bradley Dale Peveto - was DC 3 or 4 different times, and all of those teams were very highly ranked in scoring, sacks, turnovers, etc.

The Vanderbilt DC Bruce Fowler is also a good one.

I was impressed with Pitt's defense all year, not just the WV game. They are well coached - they don't have the hosses to keep it up all year, but you can tell by how well they play their responsibility and tackle that they are well coached.

BDP will be the DC, imo, if Bo doesn't coach the BCSCG.

I actually thing Orgeron would be a good fit. He's a proven DC. He's just not a head coach. Plus LSU fans can sing the yaw yaw yaw yaw yaw...footbaw song. That would be great.

he's not a proven HC or a proven DC

he's a good DL coach and recruiter though

Weren't there rumors that Dunbar didn't mesh well with the college game or with Les Miles? I think I remember reading that Dunbar really didn't like recruiting, and shirked his responsibilities there. Not sure though.

Tenuta or Muschamp would be unfair.

I can't imagine Muschamp leaving for another DC job. Tenuta and Dunbar would both be great. Dunbar has been around some great defensive minds and if he learned anything in chicago he's going to be a stud.

He certainly has some free time, with all the time he saves not coaching special teams.
