re: ESPN may expose Herbstreit - belowpar may be right

People calling for Herbie's head should recall that Herbie has actually been pretty friendly to LSU this year. He's really talked us up. Yeah, I pretty much want the scalp of ESPN in general, but Herbie's really been good to us.

I'll be very satisfied with Peveto's handling of special teams when we effectively cover punts and kicks and get consistent yardage on returns.
Trick play fake field goals and fake punts are only about 10% of the job of a special teams coach. In every other respect, our special teams play suffered from a lot of missed assignments and ineffectiveness.

re: How long will Petrino be at Arkansas???

I don't have any problem with Petrino abandoning the Falcons. It clearly was not what he signed up for when he agreed to coach Michael Vick.
My problem with this from Arkansas's perspective is that they now have a coach who has a documented desire to coach in the NFL rather than in college, and who is only coaching in college to escape a very unusual bad situation in the NFL.
Petrino will bolt back to the NFL at the first decent opportunity. Of course, he may never get that opportunity.

Weren't there rumors that Dunbar didn't mesh well with the college game or with Les Miles? I think I remember reading that Dunbar really didn't like recruiting, and shirked his responsibilities there. Not sure though.
re: What about Coach O d-line coach??????

I would love to have Coach O as D-line coach and recruiting coordinator, but I have two words for why it can't work right now: Drake Nevis. You want Coach O to come in and coach the guy who "screwed" him by decommiting?

I think it is all rumors. You can't close on a house in less than a week or so. Sorry to burst your bubble.
And the whole coaching search thing really doesn't work that way. Coaches don't send their wives to look for homes before they get hired. They get hired and then borrow a house for a while until finding one to buy.

Recruiting is not suffering by his silence. Whoever the new coach is will get a clean slate and available recruits will give that person a chance to convince them. Remember, Bama had no coach in place for a month last year, and their recruiting class arguably IMPROVED.

If you like 7-4 seasons with losses to Auburn, Bama, Florida and Arkansas every year, hire Leach. But you will be able to beat ULM, MTSU by 70.
So you're saying if we hire Leach he will come in and make us JUST LIKE TEXAS TECH? There will be no discernable talent difference or difference in style of play? And we will achieve the exact same results?
That's insane.

Is Rouge talking about Harbaugh?

I wonder too what Leach would do if he was at a big school. I don't worry about the whole "The Texas Tech offense wouldn't work in the SEC" thing. I don't think he'd run that offense here. I think he runs it there because he needs to do something to attract a few athletes to Lubbock. He didn't run that offense as OC at Oklahoma.
However, I would be concerned about whether he would be able to put together an effective defense.
