Ive lived in Williamsburg for 3 years, love it and loathe 99% of the rest of the area. So much ghetto and white trash here. Ready to move within the year. If I never left Williamsburg it would be great but I work in the ER in Hampton and Newport News and those cities are the a-hole of the Earth
Norfolk has a few nice areas but most of it is either navy base or ghetto

All of the sudden, I don't feel that great about this job.

Lived on base as a kid for 3 years, dad can confirm that everything off base is pretty shitty.

Did two tours there and loved it. Kinda expensive though. I wouldn't mind going back.

its not a 3rd world area like it is made out to be. You'll be fine. As far as traffic at 4 am you'll be ok at 1300 meh. If you'd like I can give you my email and answer any questions you have.

Those saying they hated it had no game. 6 months there in the military. Loved Virginia Beach. 22 year old met a stripper and lived with her and her two female roommates (both strippers too) @ the beach.
Subtle brag

I don't remember much back in my military days.
I did love Virginia Beach and that name sounds familiar though.

Ghent is the best area in Norfolk...close to all
Lived in Jamestown/Williamsburg/Newport News and wife went to medical school in Norfolk and we just missed out on a place in Ghent
The Norva is one of the best concert venues I've ever been

Additionally strip clubs are non-nude here. WTF IS THAT shite???

I left my home in Norfolk Virginia,
California on my mind.
Straddled that greyhound, rode him past Raleigh,
On across Caroline.
Stopped in Charlotte and bypassed Rock Hill,
And we never was a minute late.
We was ninety miles out of Atlanta by sundown,
Rollin cross the Georgia state.
Straight off, I bought me a through train ticket,
Ridin cross Mississippi clean
And I was on that midnight flyer out of Birmingham
Smoking into New Orleans.
Somebody help me get out of Louisiana
Just help me get to Houston town.
Theres people there who care a little bout me
And they wont let the poor boy down.
Workin on a t-bone steak a la carte
Flying over to the golden state;
The pilot told me in thirteen minutes
Wed be headin in the terminal gate.
Swing low sweet chariot, come down easy
Taxi to the terminal gate (zone);
Cut your engines, cool your wings,
And let me make it to the telephone.
Los Angeles give me Norfolk Virginia,
Tidewater four ten o nine
Tell the folks back home this is the promised land callin
And the poor boys on the line

We enjoyed our tour in hampton and wouldn't mind going back. It's a bit ratchet in some areas though.
As stated, HS football is on par with the south.

Ehh, try VA Beach or Chesapeake, I was stationed at FT Eustis, Ft Story, Langley, Ft Monroe and Little Creek. Been in and around the area 25 years. Norfolk is mostly bad. Some good pockets but thik of it as New Orleans without any attractions.
