I've bought a six pack for a few of them, just because I knew that's what they were really wanting and the fact I'd probably want to get wasted if I were in their shoes. (yeah yeah, I know it's usually their own fault for the position in life)

People that sit on the side of the road at intersections? Hell no.
Aggressive ones that get up in my face in parking lots that claim they just need gas money or a bus pass? Almost never.
But homeless folk that I see day in and day out near downtown Dallas where I work? Yes. Most of those ones usually ask if we need help cleaning/carrying equipment or otherwise try to avoid bothering anyone and just want to be left alone. Those ones will get some change, a sandwich from 7/11, or a bottle of water b/c I know they are legit sleeping in the streets.

I drive by this corner where a different panhandler is out there everyday. The only time I gave money was when this one guy with severe cerebral palsy was out there. I don't care if he used that money for heroin, but he didn't look like a druggie just looked in need.

As long As he didn't look like a druggie. Lol.
How in the frick do you think he ended up homeless?

There's a guy I see every now and then on an exit that has one leg and holds a sign saying he is a veteran. I have no idea if he's actually a veteran, but I know he has one leg and no money, so I give him some when I have cash.
He may be blowing it on drugs or alcohol, but I probably would too.

If they make me laugh. Guy in NOLA near COSTCO guy had a sign "Help, Need $$ for parts for my spaceship to get home". gave him $5

I saw one begger leave his post but he left a giant bag of unopened trail mix sitting on the ground that someone just gave him.
I work too hard for my money to give it away.

I'll give a few dollars to the wino who is looking for a drink to help him with his suffering. I don't give to the gutter punks or anyone who looks strung out.
Posted on 4/11/16 at 6:12 pm to TigerBR1111
Nope, never. I don't care to enable their homelessness.

Gave a dollar to a guy outside of a Burger King I went to today. At first I today the guy I didn't have any cash but on the way out I gave him a buck

Almost never...but on a very rare occasion, I just get a feeling about someone and give them a buck or two.
regardless of the reason for being there, living in the streets and begging for money is a pretty damn shitty life.

That is inaccurate....very inaccurate.
The bible is pretty straightforward:
Luke 14:13
But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,
Deuteronomy 15:11
For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.
Mark 10:21
And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow
Proverbs 19:17
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.
Luke 6:20-26
And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh. “Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets. “But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. ...
Matthew 25:40
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Mark 10:25
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God
Matthew 6:3-4
But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

I'd think about it if they performed a song and dance.

Yep. If they buy a bottle, they'll at least be happy for a night

Those are mostly taken out of context. The majority of Christ's teachings were about pulling yourself up from your bootstraps and the evils of government regulation.

You got conned more than once, and even now you still give but not often? It's foolish bitches like you that keep those wretched shitbags begging on every single corner. They're out of control in Nola and Houston.
