Looks like I am in the minority right now on Miles, remember this day fellas when we are all belly aching how the program has gone down hill in the next two years. You think we are going to beat Florida at Florida, Auburn at Auburn, Arkansas at Arkansas with Les Miles at the helm, who are we going to run up the gut since Hester is gone? I will leave right now with one clear cut question, had we lost tonight, and we were very very close to losing this, how would you feel about Les being our coach the next ten years????????

I agree we lose a lot of quality people (not just players), like Hester, Dorsey, Steltz and Doucet. I just don't have any confidence in his ability to improve the program and develop players into leaders. Lack of attention to detail and discipline (we are in December and we still cannot line up properly w/o a WR covering up a TE or another WR) will hurt more when he doesn't have superior talent and senior leadership to bail him out.

All you people said was, "where's the SECC?" and now that he's got it you still won't let it die. He is our coach now for a very long time and if you don't like it then you should go root for Ulala or something. And by the way, weren't we told by Finebaum and all the other haters that this would be the year we began to decline!
SEC Champions baby!
SEC Champions baby!

Well stated.

can you just shut up and be happy for once in your life? we are the SEC champions. A win is a win. LSU coaches, players and their true and loyal fans deserved this win tonight!!!!!
Any chance you would like to sell your season tickets for next year.... since you are already have them losing ???? I would sure love to have them.
I for one will be very glad and proud to have coach Les Miles for 10 more years.

I don't have any confidence that ever LSU fan on this board will EVER be happy with any coach.
I think there will always be people complaining about how a coach they don't even know personally lacks the skill to motivate, correct mistakes, win consistently, [insert any other thing here].
And if there's a worse place to get predictions on the future of the program or unconfirmed reports on coaching changes than ESPN... it's here.

Great talent ALWAYS makes coaches great. Les has proven that he can recruit. He has proven that he hires great coaches. As for game management, I think he's done a pretty good job. Today was a great example of that. I like Les. The thing I like the most is that he's a person of integrity. He's held kid accountable for their actions on and off the field. I'm glad he's our coach.

I still would have been psyched to have him. I thought the entire coaching staff had a great game plan given the situation with RP and Dorsey. I saw nothing to make me question Les tonight.

There are always imperfect people who expect others to be perfect. I only know of one perfect human and he was hung on a cross by a lot of people who were not so perfect but expected others to be perfect. And they didn't recognize when He was present. Need I say more. Give it a rest for a while. Stop trying to hang someone. Keep your thoughts in control. We love you anyway.

What other great coach are you comparing him to, Saban. Saban was a decent coach at MSU and Miles was a decent coach at OSU. Neither of them are God's gift to football. No team stays on top forever. Quit bitching about it and enjoy the good times. They will go and come again, Miles is a good enough coach to keep our program competitive.

SUG313, it's "fans" like you that give LSU a bad reputation as being a "good" job for coaches. Didn't you hear Colin Cowart this week saying how Michigan was a better job than LSU because of all the unrealistic fans at LSU who want to run a coach out of town if he doesn't win it all? He pointed out how many fewer coaches Michigan has had over the years, as opposed to a new coach every 3 years at LSU.
I'm damn happy and impressed with Les Miles for not wanting to hurt his team when that ESPN report came out this morning. Who knows, maybe he would have listened to and gone to Mich. but if he keeps his word and stays with us, then I love him all the more.

Amen.
The Mlive.com guy made a good point too... if LSU would have lost Les Miles, this coaching job would have been looked at as stepping stone job for years to come.
Tonight's a night to celebrate.

No matter who the coach is in 2008, that schedule is brutal! If there are two or three losses next year. It will not be Miles's fault. That is a brutal schedule. 2009....that's LSU's next "easy" shot.

Perilloux was throwing to Byrd (Miles recruits.) Chad Jones was in on every defensive and special teams play. (Miles recruit).
The "superior" talent, which WVMD recruited is Hester A TWO STAR recruit. It can be more accurately described that Miles helped Hester develop into the senior leader we all watched go over 1000 yards tonight (the vast majority of those gained during Miles tenure).
What about the weak point on the Offensive Line? Carnell Stewart, a recruit from the previous administration. I'm not going to knock any of our players, but where are the senior OL that should have been recruited under the previous adminstration? They don't exist. Stewart is a converted DT, and G-d bless him he's given it his best shot to contribute to the team.
When are ya'll going to change the channel on the criticism of a guy that is 33-6, and will be either 34-6 or 33-7 over his first 40 games. Unprecedented success from a guy that is very likeable, compared to his predecessor?

You know, it's interesting that you mention those three teams, which are very tough, and that we play every year. You're right, of course, last year we lost @ Florida and @ Auburn (and those were our only two losses in 2006). In the past 10 years, we've beaten all three of those teams in the same year (albeit all the games were in Tiger Stadium) only once, in 2005, under Les Miles.
In fact, in the current configuration of the SEC (beginning with the 1992 season) we've played those three teams in 16 seasons. We've beaten all three of them, only once, in 2005, under Les Miles.
That whole series is tough on LSU. Curley only managed 1 win against those teams, the Arkansas game in 1994 (Curley's last game, a win at Little Rock). Dinardo did a little better, Beating Auburn and Arkansas (in TS) in 95 and both teams away in 96. He flipped back to the home schedule for 1997, but dropped the Auburn game, but managing a miracle against Florida, and beating Arkansas (3rd time in a row). He won @ Auburn in 98, but dropped the other 2 as the wheels came off. Dinardo quit before his assistant would lead LSU over Arkansas to close out the dismal 1999 season.
WVMD did well in the series, winning 2/3 in 3 of his 5 years. In 2000 he lost all three games, and in 2002 he managed to beat Florida at Gainesville, but dropped both the Auburn and Arkansas games.
What Les has done in 3 years is not lose to the same team twice, a streak he will maintain until at least September 20th, 2008, at Auburn.
We'll see.....
