I'm loving this new show, and I typically don't watch these sort of shows. It's like the Apprentice, but the main guy businessman is southern and it's not a competition. He gives shots to small businesses to win his business, but they aren't in direct competition and there is no drawn out drama like voting on Survivor or the board room "you're fired" meeting. But they do lay on the drama and play up conflicts, and so far it's been great entertainment.

He's from Houston (Galveston originally); are you ready for a classic TigerDroppings debate about what's really Southern?

I only saw one episode and thought it was pretty good. He was working with a Macaroon place. He called them Mack a rons. He has a lot of buying power, runs all the Landry's businesses.

He's the sole owner. Golden Nugget Hotel Casinos, Morton’s Steakhouse, Rainforest Cafe, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., McCormick & Schmick’s, Saltgrass, Claim Jumper, Chart House, The Oceanaire, Mastro’s Restaurants, Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse, plus all sorts of real estate development in Houston including a skyscraper.

I've always assumed coke $ is what helped him build up a fortune from investments in a risky and volatile business category and with the prevalence of illegal workers from Latin America in the restaurant industry and shady money in the casino industry.... Tillman Fertitta is probably fun to party with.

I think his family was pretty mobbed up in Galveston and Vegas back in the day. He's a pretty volatile guy too. I worked with some of his culinary development team and if he doesn't like a dish they propose he'll throw it across the test kitchen.

In one of the episodes he and his guys were testing out drinks made with a mix a small business was trying to sell him. When he learned that the price point wasn't going to work, he dumped the drink on the restaurant floor. I cracked up. He's a character.

My new favorite show He and Marcus Lemonis are badass.

**Spoiler**

The only thing I didn't like is how he gave in to that artist chick and paid way more than was agreed upon for the light fixture.

That woman was unbearable! I was surprised he did not kick her to the curb that instant.

The riskiest and most volitile.

25% of restaurants go under in the first year, even though typically they don't expect to be profitable that year anyway. 50% of restaurants go under in 3 years. And yet he became a billionaire, starting with restaurants. Supposedly.

Starting with porn, actually, even though he apparently won't claim that. He supposedly started by opening and running an adult bookstore. Lol. But yes, I work in Galveston, so I've heard some things about his ties.

The macaroon chick. Idiot. He is laying it out for them in terms of revenue, costs, and debt and she completely ignores him
