....all you can drink

I guess overpriced urban living has taken a new form as NYC now how professional "dorms" for young professionals who can get free beer, wifi, communal bath, kitchen and laundry, and a fricking murphy bed for $2000/month

could you do this? I'd kill somebody before the month was out

quote:

WeLive Is Tricking Adults Into Living in Dorms

WeLive, the dystopian shared living space offered by WeWork, officially opened its doors on Monday in New York City. For only $1,375 per month plus an amenities fee, WeLive offers residents unnecessarily tricked out common areas including “a Chef’s Kitchen, Laundry/Arcade and Yoga Studio,” “all the coffee, tea and beer you can drink,” and one whole murphy bed per person. It’s a beautiful, lonely, humiliating idea that we all fricking deserve.

quote:

Of course, these units aren’t available to residents who can’t afford a private apartment (studios at WeLive go for $2000 per month)—instead, they are for the tech millennial who has so much money they can actually buy their way out of adulthood.

“We are happy if there are some bros here having a good time,” McKelvey told Forbes. “But there will also be people here eating wine and nice cheese and watching ‘The Bachelor,’ too. It’ll be diverse, and if we do our job, it will stay that way.”

I could do some damage with all you can drink beer. Might take that to help me Lee my sanity living in adult dorms

That's NYC for ya. Pay out the arse just to be amongst 'em. San Francisco has joined the fun. Is it worth it? That depends on what you want out of life.

I already spent enough years in barracks but all you can drink beer would be very tempting to 22yo me.

Considering the cost of living up here, that is a fricken deal.

As a 28 year old? Nope.

I'd do it if I was just out of college and moved to a city where I didn't know very many people. This is assuming I have a good job where I could afford it.

after looking at their website, a single bedroom place with everything that comes with it isn't a bad deal at all for NYC...

It'd be a lot like living in a hotel room...for a lot less money...

Doesn't seem like a bad deal. Studio apartments are probably 2k in Manhattan anyway. And you're guaranteed that your neighbors are other 20-something's, and not a middle aged recluse in a rent controlled apartment. Plus the free beer and coffee.

I see they're opening in Crystal City up here. It could be a reasonable option although Crystal City is a bit out of the way.

For lower Manhattan though this is probably a pretty good deal. If I were in my 20's, single and new in town I'd seriously look into it.
