I had an Eco Drive and liked the way it looked, but it did break on me (dropped it from about waist high). Brought it to a jewelry store that sold them and they basically told me it probably wasn't worth trying to fix it. Only experience I have with them, so I could be a fluke. But I wish it would have been a little more robust (wasn't a very bad fall at all)
So you dropped a watch on the floor and it broke, and that means the watch is poor quality?

I'm wearing the watch in your op. Got it six months ago and really like it. Although I wish it wasn't an automatic since I don't wear it everyday and you have to reset it after a day or two of not wearing it.

I own a Seiko Black Monster and a Seiko Solar and they are both awesome watches for the price. I've also got an Orient and it's a good watch in that same price range.
I've had that Skx175 sitting in my Amazon cart for about 6 months now, it just hasn't been the right time to spend $$ on ANOTHER watch. It's a classic look and it will last you forever. I'll own it soon.

My Orient Ray Raven with a strap instead of the metal bracelet.

Look up Miang watches
And I'd go Seiko over Citizen or Orient

I mean I don't expect to be able to run over it with a steam roller, but I did not expect dropping a watch on a rug to break it. I actually put it on and didn't pay attention until hours later when I realized the second had wasn't moving. I've got more expensive watches that have been through the same and keep on ticking (but I realize you get what you pay for).

I was looking at that one too.

I bought one of these recently. Got it as a test purchase from Jomashop..I'm really happy with it. Probably not for everyone. But check there..lot of good watches at decent prices

I wear scrubs everyday and here's my everyday wear:
Seiko SKX007. One of the most well reviewed automatic divers you'll ever find, and you should be able to score one for around $195.

what did you do then?
I'd of donated it...then go shopping for another, unless the jeweler had a decent one...

I've had it for about a year and a half now. Great watch.
Here's mine with a NATO strap

The Seiko SK and the Orient Ray are great watches around that price.

Are you just referring to the fact that an Eco Drive "automatically" charges itself? Because as I'm sure you know, it is a quartz movement.
Yes.
I know.
Energy is stored in a capacitor? Or something like it from a light source. I meant for OP that it does not need winding and is not a "battery". So he'll never need to swap a battery. However when an Eco-Drive "dies" that fricker is dead. Not worth sending a $200 watch to Japan to be serviced.
My Eco-Drive "Orca" (google it) is damned ugly. But I love it. It has lasted 5 years, but it is in a rotation. Wrist time for it is about once a week.

This.
I posted the model # and then added a link to another watch (SKX017). I like this one better, but I think the OP doesn't.
I do. It was on my list when I got my Citizen. I like the simplicity of the black/white dial.

I used the opportunity to upgrade to an automatic watch.

Paid $219 for my Maratac Large Red Pilot II
Miyota automatic, sapphire dial, decent lume. Great watch for the price, though I think you can't find it as low any longer.
pic from internet, but mine looks same and I have a brown leather nato band.
