My wife and I moved to the Denver area this past year and love it (although we are experiencing a blizzard at the moment). I would suggest raising kids south of Denver in areas like Littleton, Highlands Ranch, or Parker. The cost of living is pretty high but you're a quick 20 minute light rail ride or drive to downtown. Really nice places like Cherry Creek and Greenwood Village are where a lot of Broncos players live.

Both are great places. I think if you're going to go cookie cutter suburban sprawl route then Denver might be the better choice if you're concerned about being ruled by religious fanatics. I feel like Denver suburbs are more vibrant and have more character.

The inner city portion of SLC is awesome though and really quite live and let live. Denver is awesome too but it's ridiculously expensive now.

I've lived in both locations and personally would live in either, but if those are the choices it would be Denver. Unless you're Mormon SLC would bore you to death. Plus after a while you'll start feeling like an outsider. Denver has much more to do, plus you have the cities up the mountain. Golden is beautiful. Plus Blackhawk and Central City are nice gambling tiwns.

frick off you know nothing. And if you do know something, show your homework.

OP, Either place is a great spot to live. Consistent good weather, low cost of living compared to most major cities, lots of things to do if you like the outdoors, etc.

Is Salt Lake City that much cheaper than Denver though? I know Denver is booming right now but I thought they were similar in terms of cost of living.

I'm not sure but I don't think you can get a decent home within 45 minutes of downtown in the Denver area for $250k, where as I think you can in SLC. You may want to see how the school systems are. I don't hear good things about SLC area public schools, but I have no idea how Denver's are. Boise is where its at, imo.
