The OT never disappoints. We're at a point now where having a toilet designed for males in your home is considered trashy.

Pissing in a urinal at home - trashy
Pissing outside in yard - manly

The OT, ladies and gentlemen.

I installed a bidet last year on the upstairs half-bath. I was nervous at first, but have since seen the light. Get one of those.

Your piss will splatter all over the floor.

Not entirely true. I present to you the phenomenon known as the Plateau-Rayleigh instability.
quote:

A team of four physicists at Brigham Young University (calling themselves "wizz-kids") has been studying the physics properties of urine splash-back in a urinal-like environment. Their mission was to uncover the fluid dynamics involved in male peeing and to hopefully discern which approach leads to the least amount of splash-back (and less mess).

quote:

In analyzing the results, the researchers found that sitting on a toilet, as most men well know, results in the least amount of splash-back (the contact point is much closer). They also discovered something likely few men have considered—that urine follows what is known as the Plateau-Rayleigh instability—where a pee stream breaks up into drops before striking something else. That's the worst thing that can happen, the team reports, because each drop creates splash-back. To avoid that, men should stand as close to the urinal as possible they advise.

The ones I looked at all required commercial plumbing pressures and wouldn't work on a residential system.

a flush valve urinal will require a 3/4" water connection

most houses are fed by a 3/4" line....

it would be a win win if your wife is in the shower and you flush the urinal....

It would seem like if you tilted the back part down and away, most of the splash would stop

I've got one in my house. It's more modern than what you'd find in 99% of restaurants/bars. I've never had splatter issues, but I think the shape is designed that way. Also doesn't have the water sitting in the bottom of it so there's no smell at all. Just a tiny amount of water flushes/rinses the piss off and down the drain.
Call it trashy, but I love it. Less water consumption and don't have to deal with lifting the seat.

Was coming to post the same. Just turn and use the shower, even more effective when the wife is in there so it helps flush the urine smell.

Why would your wife need to lower the seat for you to take a piss?
