Like this about Devin White

quote:

You mentioned Devin White. He came I as a running back and linebacker, so he's on the defensive side? ARANDA: "I don't know what role he would have running back wise. As long as I've been here, he's been with the linebackers. His highlight film is awfully impressive both ways. There's a role there. Because of the depth we talked about and the physicality and instinct he brings, what a great opportunity at linebacker and he's embraced it. He's come up here quite a bit on his own. Very inquisitive, a bright guy. He can really make a statement this spring.

Well that seems pretty definitive, he said over and over he would do whatever the team needed. He's needed at LB, he will play LB, IMO that gives us two 5 star talent EE linebackers. With him at backer I think we are just fine. DAMN I CANT WAIT to get spring reports

Play immediately at LB or rotate behind 3-4 other guys as a RB?
Not saying he couldn't still carry it, but we need LBs so damn bad.

Ha. I remember a couple of geniuses laughing at the mere thought that he would play LB.

The 4 man LB class of white, divinity, thornton, and anthony turned out to be pretty stacked.

I really wanted to see White at RB. His size and speed is ridiculous so I wanted to see him with the ball.

But putting him at LB makes the most sense for him and the team. The backfield is crowded while we need the depth and talent at LB. Should be a fun player to watch regardless of position.

The Aranda hire will go down as one of the greatest moves Miles ever made while at LSU.

The defense is going to be so freaking nasty next year. White and Beckwith with the guys on the line will finally bring back that run defense that is much needed when you play in the SEC West. Also, going back to man coverage will get our guys to do what they do best.

I was thinking top 10, but this defense could be a top 5 defense next year. With Fournette and Guice, Harris just needs to moderately progress for LSU to be THE team to beat.

I just never felt good about the Steele hire when he would talk about his defensive philosophy. He usually said I'm not going to change anything and things are good so well just carry on. He sounded weak and like he had no philosophy or plan on defenses other than to just use any play book that was laying around.

Excited that Aranda sounds like he has a plan and a belief of how he wants to run a defense.
