"Needs to win more consistently in Omaha"? He has won a NC. Only 2 teams in the past 10 years, and correct me if I am wrong, have won more, and S.Carolina & Virginia both won....2. One more than CPM. And the Cocks' program has dropped these past few yrs, not even sniffing Omaha. Virginia plays in the ACC & has still only won 1 more NC than CPM. If winning the NC is the only acceptable result, then just using the normal Top 15 programs, that's a lot of head coaches who are not doing the job & should be fired.

Last year was Virginia's first championship. Oregon State won twice in '06 and '07, but has only been back to Omaha once since then.

Mainieri needs to consistently win in Omaha. Bottom line. If he can't then move on. But we won't. Alleva has this fan base right where he wants it.

Who are these coaches consistently getting to and winning in Omaha?

We were every bit as good as Vanderbuilt talent wise but their coach actually knows baseball

You mean the guy who couldn't get some of his best teams to Omaha?

me too, based on raw talent and faith in our coaching.

amen. and actually, a few losses early in the year usually help a team.

CPM has a tendency to pull his team together late and play good baseball, well at least till he hits the post season.

I agree. PM just needs to find the best guys at each position. this happens every year but this year more so as more "vacancies" need to be filled.

all this people wanting PM's head are off their rocker. he's a damn good coach and has two very capable assistants. baseball is a game that requires very high execution levels to be successful. no coach can make that happen overnight. it is a slow process.

no matter the experience of his teams his has always waited too long to pull tired pitchers and allow leads/games to slip away and it has already happened twice this season, so I will continue to criticize that...

As mentioned before, and stated on LSUSports.Net , this LSU baseball program has won more games during the past four seasons than any other division 1 program . Last year , the team won 54 games !

You can't win 50 + games every season. There is gonna be a drop off some years. This young team will pay dividends next year.

Paul Mainieri has done a very good job . I'm excited to see how the kids progress this season.

I'm not angry. But I don't think this team will have a great season. We just aren't very good this year. We are young and will be ready next year. I don't see what is wrong with saying that

I agree, people expect us to make Omaha every year, but this year offensively we are too young. We will be decent, but getting through the SEC will be tough enough.

"When has pm figured anything out?"

Seems like he has figured out how to take LSU baseball to the CWS bout 50% of the time.

If the JOrdans are so important why were they not in the lineup at all Sat, or at least pinch hitting.
Romero has that same moxie too. The pitching decisions in close games still need work as well. I know, nothing that's been said all weekend.

So you don't believe in seeing what the new players can do before the SEC schedule starts? See who can be counted on and who can't??

Or do you think it's best to wait until the SEC and start letting other players get some playing time then?
