This kid is being hyped up by the media and for what?? He has great stats but can't hit the medium range jumper consistently and just drive in and throws the ball up hoping for a foul. If I'm a GM in NBA - no way this kid is my first round pick when there is so many other "total" players. At best, he's a Magic Johnson type guard who's there to just hand out assist. I agree with every opponents fan base - OVERATED

I don't know how some of your fans continue to support him. He doesn't give a damn about LSU or the fans and it is showing. If he isn't going to play his arse off while he is there, then I wouldn't be supporting him if I were LSU fans.

100% agree.

He may be a #1 pick, but he will NEVER reach the levels of Magic Johnson and Lebron James. He's lack of effort and lack of motivation will not allow it.

I know they compare him to Magic and he has great ball handling abilities but his ball handling and passing is no where near Magic

If he goes to philly they will still suck. He has not shown he has "it" and by it I mean the ability to win surrounded by ok talent.

There is not a more total player than Simmons in the draft you fool.

"Total" players? You mean like a guy who is 6'10" that averages 20 and 10 while also getting 5 asst a game? There hasnt been a more "total" player to come out in a long time

So his upside is Magic Johnson (a top ten all-time player) and you wouldn't draft him in the first round? Stick to golf buddy.

He's a PF who can pass and rebound better than most.

And literally does everything else that a PF is supposed to do at a below average clip. Shooting, rebounding and defense are a big part of the game too. But hey, he can dribble and pass competently...

He also lacks heart, has no instinct or desire to take over a game and isnt a natural leader. None of these things progress as you have to be born with them. They wont develop over time.

Agree. Wish he'd leave this week so I can watch next year's LSU squad in action. BS is not a generational talent, and I couldn't care less what he does next year and beyond.

He's attempted 250 FT's...and made 167 of them. I dont have the stats in front of me, but I'd be willing to bet that he has the ball in his hand over 80% of the time LSU is on offense because he brings the ball down court alot. He has had WAY more opportunity than the average player because he has the ball so much. Imagine if he'd be even an average FT shooter. You think he will bring the ball down court in the NBA? Nope. That means he'll have to work himself open and make jumpshots because we all know he's too soft to play the post in the NBA with authority.

Some people have no idea what they're talking about. The kid has these stats against an SEC team and they complain because he isn't hustling. Well... if he does that without hustling, that must mean that he COULD average ~30/18/8. Calling him a bust is fricking ridiculous.

One thing that I did see, during last nights game, was an incredible burst of speed with the ball in hand. I thought he had + speed for a 6-10 player but he actually has elite speed for his size. If anyone else remembers the play, he simply accelerated right down the middle and through the defense. I believe it was on the play that the announcer commented that Arky "let" BS get too deep on their D. They didn't "let" him. He was in position to finish that play but didn't. It seems that everyone expects him to get the rebounds AND beat the defense for a layup.

What does Simmons do best? What other player on our team would anyone call a good/great PG? Simmons can't pass to himself. I will say that he could move better without the ball. Pair him with a Chris Paul type player and everyone will (again) be back on the band-waggon.

You have watched zero LSU basketball games this year. Congrats. The main legit criticism about our team and Simmons is he doesnt touch the ball enough

He will be drafted #1 based off his potential. Has nothing to do with what he has or hasn't shown. If it was based off of what he has shown he would be a mid first round pick.

No shite. That is how the NBA works.

He would still be top 10.

willie, you really need to stop commenting on basketball. You obviously understand very little about the game.

From a Chad Ford article yesterday.

quote:

His lackluster game on Saturday drew a ton of criticism. Some are raising questions about his competitiveness and the poor performance of his team. But the large majority of NBA folks I speak with think that's nonsense.

Shocked that knowledgeable NBA folks think the crap spouted off by some of our "fans" is nonsense.
