So Messenger got the bright idea to cut the blade off one of his Dexter Russells and shape it to fit in a Ridgid reciprocating saw. It worked better than he even imagined.

Messenger declined to share his technique for fitting the blade into the reciprocating saw, but said he'll sell a hybrid knife to anyone who wants one for $175. Interested anglers may contact him through Facebook or at 225-329-3295.

Just the blade for $175?

Let me guess.
Take the handle off of this:
And then sand, grind, drill, and shape the back end until it looks like this:

I would think all you'd have to do is grind the tang in the same shape as a sawzall blade and drill a hole

Sssshhhh.....
"That'll be $175.00 please"

Saw is included
Saw is $50
So essentially he's charging $125 for the blade. Cheers to the guy for apparently being the first to think about this because it was right under everyone's nose all along, but frick him for trying to price gouge a blade for $125.

Pretty sure I could do it with my 4 1/2" angle grinder with a diamond/carborundum blade.

Pretty much, I think he uses the 9" utility knife with the serrated edges. But that's only $30 for two of them..... $175 is way too steep of a price. People will take his idea and do it themselves for that much of a price hike.
Maybe the $175 includes the Rigid one hand reciprocating saw

Thing looks like it would be a shitshow to use.
I don't get it...

Also, I've seen guide services in Venice cleaning fish at the dock with sawzalls several times. This isn't exactly a new idea, but the one handed reciprocating saw is definitely a game changer.

Lowes has the kobalt brand hand held with carrying case for $69 and it is .3 lbs lighter.
I may have to source a knife blade and see if i can make one of these...

If you're cleaning redfish big enough to need one of these, you're doing it wrong.

Cleaning sheepshead is a different story.

Report back after you've had a chance to use it.

Don't know if this dude messenger is a little bitch or something, but this
has cleaned thousands upon thousands of redfish and trout with absolute ease.

I don't keep redfish over 24". Not worth fooling with imo. But all of those are cleaned with a regular mister twister or hand blades.
Sheeps can be cleaned with a serrated dexter on the scales and the smooth blade once you're in.
