Peat: He looked really good for a rookie at RT. The problem is that Strief was really good as recently as two years ago and I still think that he can bounce back. I get that Strief doesn't have many fans, even before his dogshit 2015 season, but RTs typically last a long time. Also, I think RT is the least important position on the OL, so I think that Peat has to be REALLY good to merit the top 15 pick. Still, I'm not as upset now about the pick as I was when it happened.
Anthony: Has shown flashes, but he was AWFUL in coverage. That was supposed to be his strong suit coming out of school. The skillset is there, he has to start getting it mentally. But that's the case for a lot of players that never DO get it. I think people are overreacting to his competence (rare for a Saints LB) and mistaking it for great play.
Kikaha: He fell off a cliff mid season, but he started off great and then was injured. I'm still very high on him. Higher than any other player from this draft.
PJ Williams: Who knows. Though I think his presence allows us to pass on a CB in this draft.
Grayson: Not a fan of this pick at all. Hope he proves me wrong.
Tull: Dunno.
Davison: Looked good at times. Not bad for his draft position.
Swann: If he can recover from the concussions, he looks like a GREAT pick.
I was never as big of a fan of this draft as most people. To be fair, I was PISSED about the Peat pick (wanted Parker, who finished last season on a tear), but have warmed up to it a bit. I think the biggest disconnect I have with most on this site is with Anthony, whom I think will be a subpar starter next next season. Hope he improves though.

Tell me what you thought of Evans, nicks, and colston when they were drafted?

We're talking about drafted players a year after the fact, not at the moment they were drafted. All three of those guys had excellent rookie seasons. Our only excellent rookie in 2015 was undrafted.

Personally I thought Nicks was gonna be good, Evans and Colston I thought were nothing more than camp bodies.

After the first year, just like now? Since Colston set a saints record and Evans and Nicks were being called future pro bowlers already and Reggie looked like he should look. I was a pretty big fan.
You are saying there are comparisons after year one from 06 to this year? You are not worth talking to if so.

I would love to hear the specifics on the wideouts drafted after Brandin Cooks!

Anthony struggles picking up systems. I mentioned this in my original breakdown with him. He lost his spot as a freshman at Clemson because he struggled so much. He will pick it up. By his last year he was the stereotypical "coach on the field".
Having said that, some of the coverages we ran last year were laughably bad. I know Anthony is athletic but the routes we had him covering were hysterical. Half the damn time Julio Jones lined up in the slot we were asking Anthony to carry him down the seam. There's not a MLB in the league who can do that.
So yea he wasn't elite, but we asked him to do things no one could do. We didn't put him in many situations to have success.

Really? There was some great ones as 2014 was a deep WR class. Don't get me wrong, I like Cooks but we did trade up for him.
Off the top of my head, some great picks after Cooks:
Benjamin
Landry
Moncrief
Allen Robinson
Allen Hurns
Jordan Matthews
Martavis Bryant
Davante Adams
I'm sure there's more but I would have taken some others in that list over Cooks if it meant getting an actual starting CB like Verrett instead of a potato like SJB. Verrett and ARob? Yes please.

We also signed Willie Snead, Delvin Breaux & Max Unger(trade), Hooman(trade), & Tim Hightower. Combine those guys with the draft class and that's a pretty elite offseason. 5 or 6 starters and tons of depth.
Yup. We killed it on that Seattle trade. Breaux was a gift. I wasn't happy with the Peat pick but he was needed a lot quicker than thought so he looks like he could be the starter for a long time. DVP looked good too though.
I just really hope they get a stud DE with #12 this year. I would happily take Treadwell but I know we need D.

You're an idiot... Take for example a 'great' organization like New England and look at some of their 2014 draft picks
4th Round – Bryan Stork (OL, Florida State)
4th Round – James White (RB, Wisconsin)
4th Round – Cameron Fleming (OT, Stanford)
6th Round – Jon Halapio (G, Florida)
6th Round – Zach Moore (DE, Concoria)
6th Round – Jemea Thomas (DB, Georgia Tech)
7th Round – Jeremy Gallon (WR, Michigan)
Tell me one damn thing about any one of those players and I'll start taking anything you say seriously

Those arent really specifics. Replace one of those guys with Cooks and does that make us a superbowl contender immediately... I don't think so.
Posted on 2/14/16 at 8:49 am to mmonro3
And cooks is a more complete wr and has better stats than everyone not named Robinson.
But if he was so sure fire, he would have gone where Mike Evans did right?

Outside of that - I could go into specifics, but no one that even looks like a lock to be in the league for more than another year.
really? no mention of anthony?
geez you are a dumbass. please stop posting. Thanks!

Absolutely. Drafting 3 starters and competent depth every draft. Yes. We are a superbowl team then. Just like the packers
Also, does Breaux not count? Cause thats 4 starters then.

I thought you just asked for good WR's after Cooks, you didn't mention the SB at all? I might have missed what you were originally asking but there were plenty of really good to great WR's after Cooks.
Again, I like Cooks but the Saints traded up to get him and drafted a project in SJB. You don't think getting Roby and ARob or Landry would be better than Cooks by himself? We could've sat in our original position and grabbed those guys. Moncrief and Josh brown went in the 3rd round. That's all I was saying, Cooks wasn't the end of the good WR's taken.

DLine did not help either
He did fine consider ing he was thrown into the fire with the after mentioned issue+another rookie and an off injured/ellerbe or scrub

for sure management went into the early rounds of the draft looking to take less risks, and put starters onto the field. We knew when they spent loads of time with Stephone before the draft that they were looking to draft great character guys, and team captains, to stop the locker room slide. Stephone probably could have been there in the 2nd. That part didn't matter. They wanted him on this team.
PLENTY of people on this board loved Marcus Peters... but he was a headcase! So we passed. That same locker-room scare might have kept us off of he who must not be named... who could have played RT or guard. What could have been?
1.13 Marcus Peters, CB (DROY)
1.31 Donovan Smith, OT
2.44 probably still, Stephone Anthony or at least Eric Kendricks, ILB
3.75 still Garrett Grayson, QB
3.78 no need for PJ, let's get Jahri's replacement. forget LC, how about John Miller, G
what ends up changing? DROY at CB, Stephone still at ILB.
Donovan Smith struggled at LT for the Bucs, but would have never been asked to play LT here... Mike Mayock called him a "prototype right tackle". John Miller is starting RG for the Bills.
So we'd be coming into this season same ILB, better CB, maybe better RT, and G...
We draft Jaylon or Myles to play WLB, snag a DT in the 2nd..
Then look at one of what seems like 20 starting SEC LT's that came out early and will be there in the 3rd, to play the swing G/T role. Seriously, so damn many. Germain Ifedi, Shon Coleman, Jerald Hawkins, Brandon Shell, Fahn Cooper...
OL: LT Tevon, LG Lelito, C Unger, RG Miller, RT Donovan
LB: SLB Ellerbe, MLB Anthony, WLB Smith
CB: Peters, Breaux, Swann
Let's hope that locker room gutting really shows up on the field this season.

Why Grayson still?
And frick that, if you're going for it go for who everyone knew would be good and spell it out, La'el Collins. Peters, Kikaha and Anthony, get Jaelen Strong or Tyler Lockett instead of Grayson, and get Collins.
