re: Was our draft a success last year?

Having said that, some of the coverages we ran last year were laughably bad. I know Anthony is athletic but the routes we had him covering were hysterical. Half the damn time Julio Jones lined up in the slot we were asking Anthony to carry him down the seam. There's not a MLB in the league who can do that.
we didn't do a good job covering TE's either. The first game against Carolina was awful. Its as if they were cool with letting Greg Olsen run free on underneath routes and so once he caught it there was no one around so he was able to turn it up field for a nice gain.
I'm not really sure who was drawing the TE the majority of the time but it seemed like nobody had a clue on the field either. Then one time we matched up Brandon Browner on Jordan Reed in the Washington game... that play didn't end well.

What the frick? Anthony will be a future pro bowler and perhaps All-Pro.
This is stupid.

Guy like Sua Cravens could help with TEs/RBs

Should definitely look at him if he's available in the 2nd.
Kikaha definitely has limitations in coverage and I honestly do not see him excelling there. He needs to be pass rushing and if Ellerbe stays healthy, getting Cravens on the other side would make a good group to build and keeps your LB group at least okay if Ellerbe can't stay healthy.

Cravens is very much in the mold of those new age LBers like Buchanon/Barron and some of the panthers guys.
I think he goes late first but he's a guy that could help different areas of the D in one player. He'd immediately assist in those screens that burn us and can actually cover TEs.
Need versatile guys like that and some have said he was the 3rd best coverage LBer besides the obvious top 2(Myles/Jaylon)

Pro Football Focus analyst Kevin Connaghan writes that USC LB/S Su'a Cravens "excelled in coverage, holding quarterbacks targeting his coverage to a 52.3 passer rating over the past two seasons."
A spicy meatball of a stat right there. Cravens' coverage skills are so finely attuned because he actually began his career as a safety before finishing his final two seasons with the Trojans as a linebacker. Noted Connaghan, "He thrived in that hybrid role [covering the slot at LB], showing the ability to set the edge and play the run at a high level, and also contribute as a pass rusher." A recent four-round mock draft by NFL Media analyst Chad Reuter had the Bengals selecting Cravens with pick No. 55 in the back half of the second round. Feb 7 - 6:00 PM

I like Cravens, but how comfortable would we be if Vaccaro was put at olb and we drafted a traditional ss.
Vaccaro played poorly as the traditional ss, but he's excelled in the box and is a pretty good coverage guy. Need to help byrd out by giving him a guy who can play back there with him.

Is "Anthony" listed in invisible ink in my initial post? Somehow on my iPad it says his name. But maybe it's the invisible ink option on yours.
Why do you sound like such a little bitch?
Posted on 2/15/16 at 10:58 pm to BRL79
Sorry if I sound like a little bitch. I just don't buy kikaha being some stud pass rusher and no one outside of NoLa does either. Hope I'm wrong.
Anyone bragging about PJ is off their rocker as he can only be considered a bust at this point. He made what... 3 or 4 practices and we're high on him?
Davidson - depth guy
Kikaha - rotational player (pass rushing version of Shanle). Dude is missing the fast twitch muscle in his left and right upper thigh.
Peat - I have hope he's a stud
Anthony - stud
Tull - see PJ
Swann - see SF linebacker who quit after 1 year
Murphy- solid special teams player
Grayson - sucks and small collarbone.
In hindsight, you geniuses have proven that this draft was at least mediocre. A dynasty builder or even playoff builder it is not unless Peat is a stud. If not, it's a bust draft
Again, sorry for being such a pussy.

Stud pass rusher is way too early, solid situational rusher like Jabaal Sheard? Sign me up. Not many "elite" passrushers are born the second they get into the league. Not every pass rusher needs to get 10+ sacks to be good value either.

Was considered a 1st-2nd round prospect at a point in time until his DUI. He has good size and speed, fluid hips, and tracked the ball well in college.

They have 3 years to figure it out if its a good or bad draft. Most players take that long to show who they'll ultimately become.
1st: Anthony and Peat look like they'll be solid starters for years
2nd: Kikaha looks to be a high snap rotation guy at the very least
3rd: Williams will be at the very least a nickel DB who plays a lot of snaps as it is. Grayson is a project which is perfectly fine as long as we have Brees
5th: Tull, Davison, and Swann look to be nothing more than rotation guys at this point, but all 3 have potential to play heavy snap counts, 2 showed that this year. Davison has the size and strength to be a good starting DLineman if he can reach his potential. Tull looked great in camp and against GB he had a few good moves. Won't be a starter, but a 3rd down specialist are always needed. Swann constantly improved throughout the season as a 3rd DB before his concussion issues. No history of concussions or major issues in college, could end up being one year thing and better for the rest of his life. Who knows.
7th: Murphy is no more than a ST guy, nice to have I guess.
So really for 2016, could end up being (assuming 80 snaps a game)
2 starters (~95%): Peat and Anthony
2 high snap count guys (~75%): Kikaha and Davison
2 middle snap guys (~50%): Swann and Williams
3 low-no snap guy (~0-25% unless otherwise needed): Grayson, Tull, and Murphy
In what world is that a bust draft? Have you seen Denver's 2015 draft?
1. Ray: rotational guy just like Kikaha
2. Sambrailo: solid OL, if needed Peat would be just the same
3. Heuerman: not used due to torn ACL
4. Garcia: backup guard/center
5. Doss: didn't even play much at all
6. Kilgo: backup NT
7. Siemian: QB nobody even knows about
7. Nixon: was on PS most of the year
7. Furman: cut
they had a bust of a draft too, even though they won right?

it doesn't matter what facts you bring to the table for him, he is just gonna ignore it - just accept that the OP is a troll and stop feeding him.
his "routine" is old at best.

We got 3-4 starters out of the draft depending on concussions (after the draft...) Along with other contributors.
Huge success so far.

You're an idiot. This isn't even a good troll.

ok, considering we had 9 picks. Only time will tell. If Kikiha and tull have to play in a 4-3, the draft will be very average

Denver was better at the start of the year, and they didnt have Loomis destroy their cap, so they could sign free agents. We are frozen by Loomis cap moves.

One could say sure... but also one could say our Super Bowl trophy is frozen in our hands for all time as well.
Loomis being Mr Freeze getting us there to use your analogy.

Not sure what a troll is exactly and try to be too cool as a goal to use message board terms. However, just stating my opinion that the "we solved our draft" problems seems overblown to me when as far as we can all say solidly - we have one guy that we know we will likely want to extend. We have doubts about everyone else.
If that's trolling, you are gay.

You have yet to post a single example of what you would have done differently or other teams who get better results yearly in the draft.
Bitching for the sake of bitching, ignoring any facts or evidence presented to you, and harping on a single point with no explanation or offer of solution.
You suck.
Good day.

Here's a theory: OP doesn't believe in their post. They just trolled to unite the fan base.
That's clearly the case because the post was fairly cancerous.
